Ok, who flew or drove home for Thanksgiving?
I am trying to get a read on the times we are living in. Transportation during the Thanksgiving is, to me, a good indicator of state of the economy. We also have high gas prices this Thanksgiving.

So, did you travel by air and if so how was the experience? Was the airport busy? How did your experience differ from last year or the last time you went home for T-day?

Did you instead drive? If so, why? Was the commute a busy one? How much did you pay per gallon of gas in order to make the trip?

Thanks for responding!

1. I stayed home.
Our gas is running around $2.98-3.04. Right now, I'm more concerned about natural gas prices. It is snowing and beginning to get cold. I was a little shocked over my utility bill for last month, which should have been an easy ride. If that is any idication of what is to come, the "Ho-Ho-Ho" is going to go to the energy company and the rest of us will get a lump of coal.

Well, maybe we can burn the lumps.

I keep wondering where we'd be now if Kerry was sitting in the Oval Office. Damn.

2. Actually I drive home every night, Thanksgiving or not. The use

of the term "home" as meaning where you came from, rather than where you sleep at night, shows the extent of the change in our society. Fifty years ago on Thanksgiving I'd be at my paternal grandparent's with all my cousins from that side of the family, none of whom lived more than a half hour or so away. In the past thirty-five years I have seen three of those cousins, each once, two of them at a funeral, one at my house for a few hours.

3. Nope.
I'm not even sure if I'll be able to make an appearance at Christmas.
Car not running well.
My hours cut at work.
