Iconochasms: Cool and tough quiz from political compass....

Iconochasms

KNOW YOUR HEROES, HEROINES - AND HISTORY. Hopefully, you're happy with the personalities that The Political Compass has placed you closest to; but how well do you really know the famous figures that you love or love to hate?

This little wrap-up quiz offers some important facts that were barely, if ever, reported. It may raise your eyebrows and adjust the pedestals on which you placed some of your favourite icons. The chasm may be greater than you'd imagined.

I got 25 out 48 correct. Yeah I know not that great. :dunce:

Best first time score gets a free trip to Iraq.

Happy Thanksgiving.

1. I know my thugs better than my heroes
so I managed to get 32 correct. I was surprised by the number of quotes I actually knew.

Good quiz, just the thing to burst through the "holiday, can't go anywhere" torpor this morning.

Thanks.

6. 41 of 48 ... probably because many of these have been discussed or noted on DU over the years.

7. Out of the twenty odd I got right, I think I guessed 15 times.
I must have missed those threads.

From seeing sigs, rants, and many of the "harbinger of fascism" threads (which fascinate me due to a systems proclivity), I sorta right-brained the answer. There's a minority constituency on DU, for example, that views the Dalai Lama in a (cough) less than favorable light. While I surely disagree in sum, I found the references to his past statements fascinating. (I've never regarded him as a simple man.) Ob the other hand, I've always known that Churchill was a conservative with a spotty track record outside of WW2 - and I've been somewhat aware of the attitudes he's expressed. Further, Eisenhower is often referenced on DU as a Republican that was closer to today's Democrats than today's Republicans. So, given my Reader's Digest inspired habit of picking up trivia and factoids, DU has been very useful in improving my somewhat pointillist view of people and history.

Besides, perhaps recent events have made me a bit more right-brained. :dunce:
