Did anyone hear "Alice's Restaurant" yesterday?
It just occurred to me that I didn't hear anyone play it.

4. I wonder if my old station did?
They're fiercely jumping on the support the troops bandwagon as is every business near Ft. Drum. I don't think a lot of our more conservative listeners were smart enough to figure out it's an anti-war song so it might have survived lol.

5. Yeah that's what I was wondering.
I was on the road for a some time yesterday, even had it on one of my old rock stations and never heard it once. I didn't realize it until I was thinking about the song earlier.

Very funny. In that 30 year anniversary version, Guthrie describes being invited to the Carter Inauguration where he was pulled aside by President Carter's son Chip. He told Guthrie that as the family moved in to the White House, they found a copy of the original "Alice's Restaurant" album in Nixon's study. Guthrie then goes on to remark how Nixon recorded everything on tape, that he was most famous for an 18 1/2 minute section of tape that had not been recorded, and how the original recording of "Alice's Restaurant" was 18 minutes and 20 seconds long. Coincidence?

9. He's probably been doing that bit for years
He was at the Carter Inauguration, and that was back in 1977. The recorded version was done with a live audience but, from comments made during the bit, was clearly recorded specifically for the album.

7. Community radio in Tampa played it twice
once in the AM, and by popular request again in the aft.

11. Drat! Forgot
And the first time in many years (when I wasn't out of the country). I have it on cassette tape off the radio from about 20 years ago. A few years ago, I got a digital version. I know it's no excuse, but with the temps so warm yesterday, I was out pedalling around, pretending it was summer.

I'll give a listen this weekend, so don't go calling Officer Obey.

13. We did, too. Then, my husband went around muttering "Shady Pines, Dad" to himself
for the rest of the day. My daughter graciously led him to the computer to play it for him.

14. Yup...three or four times. I missed the local radio station's, and XM's
Noontime play, so I pulled a WMA file off the net, converted it, and burned it onto a CD for my trip to relatives. I have the cassette tape, but no longer have a cassette player in the car. Next year, I'll buy the CD and make it all "legal", but I just could NOT miss my Thanksgiving tradition.

Still listening to it today, and will be tomorrow as well.

"...had another Thanksgiving dinner that couldn't be beat..."

15. Either my fav station didn't play it this year ( I listen online)
or it was played during the time I had my head in the oven.
