Moran praises AIPAC for 'doing their job' Critics pleased to hear remarks

Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) last week praised the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and its supporters for their hard work in getting Congress to support their policy positions.

At a town hall meeting that he hosted in Alexandria, Moran referred to "frenzied lobbying" that successfully defeated legislation requiring the president to get congressional authorization before a military strike on Iran.

Asked who had been doing such lobbying, Moran mentioned Reps. Gary Ackerman (D-N.Y.) and Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.), then brought up AIPAC, saying that the pro-Israel lobby group is simply "doing their job."

"They're straightforward in what their objective is, and they're lobbying for what they consider in Israel's best interests," Moran said.
