Memo To New York Post: The Bush Administration Was Warned About 9/11
Memo To New York Post: The Bush Administration Was Warned About 9/11

New York Post reporter Andy Soltis writes of the latest Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll that finds a great majority of Americans believe the government failed to heed warnings about 9/11. Soltis writes that this poll shows increasing support for 9/11 “conspiracy theories”:

Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe the federal government had warnings about 9/11 but decided to ignore them, a national survey found.

And that’s not the only conspiracy theory with a huge number of true believers in the United States.

Sixty-two percent of those polled thought it was “very likely” or “somewhat likely” that federal officials turned a blind eye to specific warnings of the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

The NY Post’s headline blares: “‘Blame U.S. For 9/11′ Idiots In Majority.” As frequent readers of this site are well aware, ThinkProgress does not condone 9/11 conspiracy theories which allege the attacks were an inside job. But whether the Bush administration failed to heed warnings of a terrorist strike is not a conspiracy theory — it is a fact.

1. I still think they intentionally ignored them.
They got more than they bargained for but they knew something was coming.

scenario couldn't have played out without it.

And they got it. And they got to lie their way into Iraq. But ever since, nothing's gone as they planned.

part is that even if the entire country knew this and was hopping mad about it, Nancy Pelosi would still declare impeachment "off the table".

8. To be fair
An editor writes the headline, not the author of the story.

And no one takes the NY Post seriously. It's owned by Murdoch. The only people I know who read it do so for the sports pages and their celebrity gossip.

7. Dissent=Idiocy
Isn't that Soviet era propaganda?

Why is the patriotism of government officials off the table? Has the President honored his oath of office? Members of Congress?

Are the 9/11 skeptics refusing to declassify evidence? No!!! That would be the Bush administration. The CIA. The FBI.

Did the 9/11 skeptics promote high ranking officials who were derelict in their duty in the lead up to 9/11? No!!! That would be President Bush with Congressional confirmation:

Hayden. Director of the NSA. Kept his job after 9/11. Later promoted to DDNI and CIA Director.

Rice. NSA. Kept her job after 9/11. Later promoted to Secrecy of State.

Hadley. Deputy NSA. Kept his job after 9/11. Later promoted to NSA.

Is cheerleading for corrupt and secretive government an act of patriotism? It seems Soltis would answer this question with a resounding yes.

26. And yet..the nyp is in the
minority and their publisher isn't a US citizen and they're calling the majority in the US.."idiots". How do New Yorkers support that paper when they are the ones who had first hand experience how the neo-fascists let 9/11 happen and promoted their national security adviser, con rice, to sos?

soltis is a pissant propogandist who should take a cue from the fate of nazi Germany's propogandists.

You know, the nazis? The ones ol prescott bush did biz with.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1312540,00.html

"George Bush's grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.
The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.

His business dealings, which continued until his company's assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz and to a hum of pre-election controversy."

The truth is too horrific to imagine.

Someday I think there will be a book entitled: "The Greatest crime ever Committed", or to that effect.

29. Didn't someone say 9-11 had given him his "trifecta": my God, isn't that an acknowledgment
that ignoring (not stopping an imminent attack) would give him what he wanted?

to keep it that way. MIHOP is still thought of as a CT. Facts show that the Bush Admin had advance warning of the attack and where it was going to take place.

I will lean more toward MIHOP if more proof comes to light.

40. This isn't news is it? The release of the daily briefing on 8/9/01
proved that they were warned. Of course, that can be written off to ineptitude. And the "theories" about complicity have become more and more belivable to the public because of the lies, corruption and deceipt that has plagued this mis-administration in every other area.
