Who gets thrown under the bus for YOUR health care plan?
Hey DU!

Currently all those that are unable to be covered are thrown under the bus. In some way, we are all thrown under the bus because we have to foot the ER bill for all those uninsured.

It seems that everyone (GOP and Dem) has a plan to fix our shitty system. Each plan helps some, and hurts others.

No doubt that Kucinich's health care plan basically throws corporate (pharmaceutical and HMO's) profits under the bus. Under his plan, those fat cats would get a raw deal.

I bet that the candidate that you support has a health care plan. Who gets thrown under the bus if your candidates health care plan becomes law?

1. You are very wrong with regards to Kucinich's plan
Cutting corporate profits from "obscene" to "excessive" hardly counts as throwing profits under the bus. :eyes:

2. a good start would be to regulate the health care and insurance industries
who have, seemingly, conspired to make the whole system entirely unaffordable to 99% of the people who use it.

4. Over here! I've been thrown under the bus because I'm unemployed!
No one will sell me anything other than short-term insurance. Useless.

I support mandatory participation in national health coverage.

5. Why doesn't someone start a nonprofit insurance company?
Why not an organization that is run as a trust or a cooperative that provides health care?

I don't see any legal impediments to it.

Does anything like that exist already?

6. Blue Cross Blue Shield was/is.
Unfortunately, most Blue Cross companies/networks were purchased by private companies several years ago. I don't know of any that are currently non-profit.

9. Kaiser Permanente is
Some of the BC/BS are. There are also many non-profit hospitals and clinics. I really don't remember the last time I went to a for-profit hospital or clinic.

15. Try these guys....
Group Health Cooperative
Group Health Cooperative was opened in 1947 by a community coalition dedicated to making quality health care available and affordable. Today it is one of the few health care organizations in the country governed by consumers rather than internal executives. Its 11-member board of trustees — all Cooperative members elected by other members — work closely with management and medical staff to ensure that the organization's policies and direction put the needs of patients first.

8. Insurance companies

Fuck them. For profit health insurance, profiting on human suffering and anxiety, is obscene and immoral.

However, that Kucinich would consider a rabid libertarian as a running mate, who would drown government programs in a bathtub, brings into question his his commitment to health care, the New Deal, indeed his sincerity and sanity.

How ridiculous an argument. By reducing graft and corruption you think we are throwing them under the bus....

under the bus. He'll just buy it and have it moved anyway.
