Dodd responds: No permanent bases in Iraq.
Once again, Sen. Dodd is the one and lonely out of the chute to respond to the Bush attempt to justify the permanent bases in Iraq.

Dodd Responds: No Permanent Bases In Iraq

Over at TPMmuckraker.com, Spencer Ackerman has a big story: The White House today released its guidelines for what will effectively be permanent U.S. bases in Iraq.

Naturally, the question of whether we should have such bases is a good one to pose to the Presidential candidates. So we've begun to ask them for a response.

(snip)

Full statement from Dodd campaign on permanent bases:

Frankly, it’s hard to believe that the Administration is just beginning to figure out what the future bilateral relationship with Iraq should look like after more than four years of military occupation. But, this declaration of principles is more notable for what it doesn’t say than what it does. It does not require Iraqi leaders to make substantive progress on their political benchmarks nor does it end US military involvement in Iraq. Indeed, Senator Dodd is fearful that the lack of clarity on the long-term presence will be used as a justification by this Administration for a permanent military presence in Iraq, at precisely the time when we should be declaring the opposite. In a Dodd Adminsitration, there will be no permanent bases in Iraq.

(end snip)

Where are the others?

4. Military bases in Iraq will increase the odds of terrorism in the US.
Removing them will reduce the reasons for any possible followers to be organized into terrorist groups.

6. What does it mean though?
No permanent military bases in Iraq.

If we keep our troops there for another 100 years then pull out, that's not permanent.

Fact is, our troops are not coming out anytime soon no matter what anyone saids.

We've invaded the middle East in preparation for the New Cold War.

The final cold war will be an international showdown for world recourses lead by the United States and China.

China is just as active as us, but in a much more subtle fashion. At least for now.

8. Not even the earth is permanent. But we're talking
about a military base that is permanenet a far as our imperialism is concerned. All conquerors conquer to exploit the subject people whether it was Julius Ceasar or Adolph Hitler. If we are to be their twins of history, it means they stay indefinitely.

9. So ,than yes,,,
They will stay there indefinitely.

Saudi Arabia and the other oil producing countries will follow our lead,,, or else.

That's the way I see things. Has nothing to do with terrorism.

That's how I see things and I believe facts would back us up. Bremer order #39 pretty much gives away our intentions.

Order 39. Provision-1, privatization, Provision 2-100 percent Foreign Ownership of Iraqi Businesses, Provision 3 National treatment of foreign investment, Provision-4 Unrestricted Repatriation of Profits for Foreign Investors, Provision 5-Forty Year Leases of Iraqi Real Estate by Foreign Entities and Provision 6 Disputes could be settled in international tribunals instead of Iraqi Courts.
