Interesting conversation with a co-worker today

I work in an Operations Center, so we have several TV's going on at the same time with the news. I was talking with one of the older civilians I work with and we were quietly discussing politics, he knows my politics and I know his and we were shooting devils advocates questions around. The questions we asked each other were what candidate you would vote for if "gun to your head" you had to vote for the other party. I gave my answer, then after chewing on it, this very conservative guy said..."Obama". My first assumption was that this was in backlash to the kneejerk, Clintonphobia in Republican military retirees but what he said after words got me to think...

He said "When I see him speak I never think 'that man is bullshitting me', you have to imagine that someone like that will do what is best for America whether his party likes it or not."

Just thought I would throw that out there.

he's also an Air Force officer, and he's not alone among his co-workers in support for Obama.

There are an incredible amount of Obama crossovers from many republicans. He himself has said he wants to get more than the necessary 51% to win. He wants a true majority, thus a mandate to
govern the way the country needs it.

like Obama. One of the guys has never voted Democratic. He is voting for Obama in the primary.

i get the impression that this guy is not crazy, he is the hardcore libertarian type and will likely bolt if one of the big three gets the nom.
