Justice Clarence Thomas: Shut Up.

There's a reason why Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas doesn't talk much from the bench: He thinks judges should be seen and not heard. "My colleagues should shut up!" he says. In a rare scolding of his fellow judges, Thomas Wednesday night took off after those who ask questions and debate cases out loud during oral arguments while defending his own, oft-criticized, silent treatment.

Asked at an event honoring Winston Churchill sponsored by independent Michigan school Hillsdale College if he would talk more from the bench to "give us relief" from the other chatty judges, Thomas said, "I don't think it's my job to give you relief." Thomas noted that through history, most top judges rarely asked questions. "What's changed? Have the laws changed? What's changed? And why are all these questions necessary? That should be the question," he demanded of the near epidemic level of judicial questioning at Supreme Court hearings.

(snip)

Thomas said that once the cases get to the Supreme Court, there are no surprises left. "This is not Perry Mason."

(end snip)

Yup, all those pesky little questions. Some of them haunt you, don't they, Clarence?

1. The real reason is because he doesn't understand what's being said!
"Moran!" There's a reason why his clerks still write everything for him.

3. No Supreme Court Justice should just sit like an inert
object whenever a case is being presented. It's insulting to the attorneys, their clients, the court, and the justice system. Just wrong.

4. Thomas recognizes his limitations.
So, he sits in silence.

6. "most top judges rarely asked questions" ???
Looks like he is trying to copy top judges style so that others will have to say he is one too.

They really need to get something on him so he can be impeached and removed. Otherwise they will have to follow the precedents of other SC judges when he dies. The best I can see for public figures to dishonor the guy without causing a riot would be to keep their mouths shut. By the time Thomas dies there probably won't be enough people to remember that he is a total effen idiot. There will need to be various people ready to have books published about him and show his lack of experience and inability to be a judge.

7. Yeah. Last I checked,
. . . the opinions of ANY one of the despicable "Bewsh 5" are irrelevant and silly and should be saluted with a single finger.

8. Ergo...His Mind Is Already Made Up
Those damn hearings...such a waste of time for dear Clarence. It takes away from his golf outting or lunch or whihing at the AEI. And damn those other judges who should just shut up and vote...details only mess things up. :sarcasm:

The reason he never talks or asks questions is he's already been programmed on how to vote.
