Teddy Roosevelt understood this. He broke-up conglomerates because he knew that the newly formed mergers restricted competition.

Big business has no conscience, and during this age of globalization -- our Capitol has been inundated with foreign PAC dollars.

Wall Street may physically be on American soil; but the engines that run it are certainly not obliged to American law.

What about NAFTA guys and Hillary? Are you going to repeal that sucking failure? It negates our democracy and borders. We can't find better candidates for President than this?

3. Then competition forms the mergers
You can't escape that cycle in a mass society(which is all globalization is). If you mandate competition, then that is simply the state restricting competition, since it then holds power over what competition is.

So the problem comes down to organized institutions, obviously depending on what your definition of the problem is, since both the state and the corporation require centralization of power and wealth in order to grow. Centralization of power and wealth can only end in monopoly, for both institutions, which kills diversity, and creates a mass society, where every aspect of life is increasingly identical, and so physical reality(as in Wall Street) doesn't matter anymore.

Well, physical reality still matters, as we're seeing(name the issue or problem we're all dealing with, and there is your proof). It doesn't matter as much in our minds, and that allows us to continue doing what we've been doing. That gives us the ability to think that if we just move something around here and there that globalization will start working for the people. It never will, but we'll keep chasing that ghost. We'll ruin the planet to do so, but then again physical reality doesn't enter into our equations.

4. Globalism is the best hope for peace and prosperity.
I think many people who oppose globalism want to keep the third world poor, weak and dependent on the first world.

5. Globalization has killed more third world citizens then has all diseases combined.
The driving force behind globalization is this Friedman based, Chicago School, free trade ideology that touts removing all regulations from corporations.

If you want to see the full affects of globalization take a good, long look at Pinochet's Chile. That is the model the World bank and ITO wants to force onto everyone. A vicious dictator that steals the wealth of a nation through torture and "disappearances" and puts it in the hands of corrupt greedy CEOs and corporations.

The results are always, always the same. A handful of rich with the vast majority of people in squalid poverty. Why do you think that free trade, wherever it is implemented, leads to riots, protests and dictatorships? Because it demands that all social programs for the poor and middle class be stopped and everything from water to seeds be owned by a corporation that turns around and charges the poor huge sums for the right to survive.

It creates a class of disposable people, who have no jobs, no hope, and live in squalid poverty. It creates a micro class of multi billionaires who own everything and charge excessively for the necessities of life. It creates a government unresponsive to the needs and suffering of its people. It very much resembles the feudal system where a few wealthy kings and lords lived in luxury while everyone else can barely afford to eat.

Don't take my word for it, read Naomi Klein's book The Shock Doctrine. Then tell me how globalization has helped the third world poor.

6. Hitler may have died in 1945, but his "New Order" survives...
Poppy Bush just added the word "World"(New World Order)to Hitler and Prescott's old game plan.

King, Fuhrer, Dictator, Decider...what's the difference, to the poor people they screw to death?

7. This Philosophy Is Where the Term "Neo-Con" Comes From
Many neo-cons started out with the idea, well-intentioned, that Globalism will bring peace and prosperity for all.

The reality is, the only way for all the world's nations to operate as one unit will require the bending of the wills of many unwilling nations and peoples - by manipulation and by force.

Liberals who are in favor of globalization use manipulation as the preferred tool, from which we ride into the rescue from the resulting turmoil (the break up of Yugoslavia was a demonstration). Iraq is getting a demonstration of the neo-conservative way.

The kind of control it would take to bring about and continually exert a world-wide peace would itself be an evil.
