Spinmeister, Spinmeister, Spin Me a Tale, Poll Me a Poll, Make up a Dataset

The collected works of Mark Penn on the Clinton website - not available by any search feature actually found on the site's homepage, mind you - have elevated invisible cloth spinning to an art form.

Mark Penn truly missed his calling. He could have been the world's richest pantomime.

You can almost - *almost* - see the http://www.google.com/search?q=%22mark+penn%22+%22chief+strategist%22+360+site:hillaryclinton.com&complete=1&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all&filter=0">finely-woven 360-Electoral-College-count thread.

You can almost - *almost* - see him weaving together actual datasets to spin that cloth.

You can almost - *almost* - see Bill and Hillary draped in that cloth at an inaugural ball.

But Penn can't read non-existent exit polls any better than you or I. What he can do is develop an exit strategy - for himself, from the campaign.

When Hillary is ahead in a poll --- THAT candidates supporters say

it is a spin
it is illegal
they don't believe in polls

BUT DAMN DARN WHOOP DE DOO DOO
Just let their candidate be ahead in ONE POLL and they all go hog wild batcrap crazy.....guess polls do matter if if if THEIR CANDIDATE IS AHEAD.

if (insert favorite candidate's name ... here) is ahead/making up ground/up X number of points in a Poll, it's clear evidence that everyone loves said candidate. But if Hillary is (any of the above) in a Poll, it must be rigged/a lie/spin/illegal/corporate-owned/desperation.

Don't even bother trying to keep up with the huffing and puffing about Polls on DU. It's a stupid way to waste a day.
