More on the "Baby Grace" story - Beaten to death for not saying "Please"
This about the little girl found in Galveston Bay.

HOUSTON, Texas (AP) -- The stepfather of a 2-year-old girl lost control and beat her to death because she wouldn't say "please" and "yes sir," an attorney for the girl's mother said Wednesday.

According to court documents, Trenor, 19, told police she and her husband killed the girl in July and hid her body in a shed before dumping it in the bay.

Stickler said Zeigler, 24, was overwhelmed by his sudden fatherhood and didn't know what behavior to expect from a toddler. Trenor moved with her daughter from Mentor, Ohio, to Texas in June to be with Zeigler, whom she met online.

Zeigler wanted his wife to spank Riley with a belt when she failed to say things like "please" and "yes sir" or "no sir," Stickler said Wednesday. Zeigler didn't believe Trenor was doing it, however, because the 2-year-old's behavior wasn't changing. Watch Riley's grandmother recall "a very wonderful little girl"

The fatal beating happened after Zeigler stayed home from work to make sure his wife was following his discipline plan, Stickler said.
This sort of story makes me think there should be a license to reproduce.

1. Damn.
:cry:

I think part of this is that people now come from small families, and probably grew up without younger siblings. They may have grown up without knowing any families with young children. So if people don't grow up seeing people handle young children they don't know how.

And part of it is that they just seem to lack the patience and empathy needed to be a parent. :(

I think some kind of training should be available for young parents.

This guy learned this sort of thing from his father or grandfather, even from his mother. Hard.

4. I agree. And the thing about abuse, is that it's exponential.
If an abusive parent raises three kids in an abusive household, and those three kids grow up to become abusive parents... and so on.

It really sheds some light on why we are where we are as society today, and why as a society we take the abuse that we do from our governing bodies.

5. What pathetic monsters those people are.
Such a cute little girl, at 2 years no one would really expect a child to be polite. This is the time where parents should be teaching such things, and showing their child by example how you should treat others.

No human could possibly do such things to a child. They are monsters.

It just makes me sick when I hear of things like this. Seems to be happening a lot these days. I guess when you have people like Bush and Cheney doing the things they do, it trickles down to others. Bush/Cheney are not setting a good example, either. And they are also monsters.

6. I've got the perfect discipline plan for "Mr Zeigler."
How's about an iron skillet upside his head. A hot skillet would be even better. Then take the same belt he wanted Riley spanked with and strangle the crap out of him.

By an equally horrendous father when he was a kid. Most abusers grow up to be abusers.

Still, that may offer a reason - but not an excuse.

He was fully responsible for that beautiful child's murder and should be held accountable. He better be! Breaking the cycle of abuse sometimes takes working across generations, but that must happen or the beatings will go on and on.

11. hopefully this child will be given to a loving family.
this type of shit just makes me ill. My daughter is only 1, and a friend of mine said to me the other day "have you spanked her yet" I said, why the hell would I spank her? Jesus fucking christ (pardon me but) makes me wonder what goes on with his 5 year old and his girlfriend's little boy too.
