1. Isn't there a problem with donating through Act Blue?
I thought Edwards couldn't get matching funds on those donations.

If that's the case, I'll go directly to his site and donate, that way my $20.08 turns into $40.16!

5. So the $260 I gave last year wasn't matched?

I gave $250 to match others here at the end of the June 07 quarter. So marta and I can each give $250 for the primary cycle? Let us know. I'll check this when I get home.

35. Link to "NO MATCHING FUNDS for ACT BLUE"...
http://tpmelectioncentral.com/2007/12/breaking_fec_says_no_to_matching_edwards_actblue_funds.php

Sorry for the caps, but people really need to realize that donations through any Act Blue site won't be matched :-)

We're not flush right now, but I hope millions will hit that $25 button over and over and over for an administration that cares for all, not just big-dollar contributors.

DU has an Act Blue link for donations to all candidates - see the thread pegged at the top of GD. Not sure if yours is the same link or not.

He needs the matching funds, because he refuses corporate funding!

Please, spread the word.... donate directly to his campaign so he can get the matching funds, and not through ActBlue!

43. I just happily sent him $50.00 at the link you posted -- hooray for matching funds!
This is the very first campaign donation I've made this campaign season (which has lasted for over a year, so far -- dammit!).

In 2004 I sent lots of money to Kucinich, caucused for him in MN all the way to the State convention, and had a shot at being a delegate to the National convention (I really couldn't afford to take the time off work, so I supported other folks who wanted to go).

But this time around I just haven't felt like sending him money. I've grown far more cynical and disheartened since 2004 -- and I was already pretty damn disheartened in 2004, after the campaign of 2002 when Paul Wellstone was taken away from us.

Much as I've loved Dennis Kucinich since 2001, when he wrote his "Prayer for America" (if any of you are unfamiliar with this, google it -- should be easy to find, it was all over the intertubes after 9/11), I just couldn't really get up much enthusiasm this time around.

It's kinda seemed like it's gotten to be too much about him -- "Hey, I'm the cool guy!" I'm definitely willing to concede that I'm totally mistaken and misguided, I'm just going on my instincts.

Sorry for the ramble -- the point is, I've been holding off donating any money, assuming all the while that the only person I would ever send money to was DK. But I just didn't feel like doing it.

NOW I felt like doing it, and it's to Edwards. It's actually quite a relief. I was feeling damn guilty about not putting any money down on the game. Now I feel very good.

Wheeew!

:P

48. I sernt him a hundred bucks
this morning. A hundred bucks still means a lot to us, but as I told the wife: this is one HELL of an investment scheme - an investment in our future AND our nation's future. If you happen to be reading this (and you've just been released from a goverment-paid "rendition cruise") and you don't know it yet, John Edwards ISN'T paying his way with corporate IOU notes! His campaign counts on grass roots donors to keep fuel in his bus. The White House has been bought and paid for by Big Business for eons and it's finally dawned on myself and others that with the right general to lead the charge, WE (The People) have a chance to buy back the lease on that public mansion!
A hundred bucks can feed some hungry Americans for a couple of days OR.... it can work to set those citizens back on a course towards hope and dignity. I chose the latter - and this isn't the first time we've done this for this campaign. I see this as THE most pivotal moment in this country's history since I was birth'd in 1945. We can opt for another reign of GOP loonies or we can set this train back on the tracks that the founders envisioned over 200 yeares ago.

HAPPY NEW YEAR? Sure, but drop the "Y" in year and rearrange the 3 letters that are left and you have what'll dawn if Edwards is elected President... HAPPY NEW ERA !

51. i just got back from Edwards /Mellencamp rally & concert!! it was great!!
I am on the ground in the great state of Iowa..knocking on doors..and happily freezing my ass off!!

My Florida bones are not used to this cold!!..but i would do it again and again for John and Elizabeth Edwards.

please please donate!! Thank you helderheid!!

I want you all to know..volunteers have come from all over the nation to work for John and Elizabeth here..i have met people from so many states because they feel so strongly for John Edwards..and they have come voluntarily and on their own dime!!..we are hundred's to one in the hotels here..compared to other candidates volunteers.

But more importantly i want to tell you about Iowans...they are the most informed voters i have ever met..they take their responsibility extremly seriously..they invite us into their homes to tell them about our candidates and they ask informed, intelligent questions.

I am so impressed with this process.

I hope to observe at one of the caucus's tommorrow night..and be an information advisor..

I am now in love with Iowan caucus go'ers..they are incredible , honest to the bones people.

One very sweet 84 year old man here wants to date me...but i told him he was out of luck, as my hubby might not approve!!

I have seen every kind of dog..and cat in Iowa!! and have been sniffed by them all!!

so good night from Iowa..please if you can donate to John Edwards..he has the crowds on their feet here..and ready to fight to take our country back!!

fly..........
