Carrying a slingshot into a Zoo?
So Tigerlunch was packing a slingshot?

On Abrams right now.

They also discovered an errant branch in the enclosure. Taunting.

Darwinism at its highest order.

Yeah, fuck all that hero shit.

That tiger knew exactly what it needed to do.

You can taunt my Golden Retriever all you want, he'll just wait for the treat.

Taunt my Bengal (Cat, not Tiger)? Don't turn your back, buddy.

Good fucking riddance.

1. i"m in agreement
little sympathy for the little twerps. It's about time the animals get some payback for arrogant humans taunting them.

2. They allegedly found a 9-inch rock there, too…
and they're not cooperating with the police. I wonder why?

4. Aren't they now saying that isn't true? Along with the blood & shoe in the tiger enclosure not true.
It sounds like a lot of misinformation is coming out, perhaps to muddy the waters for anticipated litigation.

5. I haven't heard that - where did you see it?
Earlier today, Jack Hanna was interviewed (on CNN?) and said that if the taunting was true, the men should be prosecuted for the unneccesary killing of the tiger.

Too many people jumping to too many conclusions on inaccurate evidence. I don't believe NYPost is accurate for info, and that is where the slingshot thing came from.

Here is another article:

....
No matter what the young men might have done to provoke the tiger, legal experts say the zoo is responsible to keep the tiger confined. If it escapes, the zoo is "strictly liable," said Peter Keane, law professor at San Francisco's Golden Gate Law School.

"If you have a wild animal and you keep it and it gets out of your control, you're liable," said Peter Keane, law professor at San Francisco's Golden Gate Law School.

However, he said, any evidence of taunting could influence how much the zoo pays out in damages to the victims. If the case goes to court and a jury believes the men taunted the tiger and were partially responsible for the attack, the amount of the jury award can be reduced.

"If they just stood there and said, 'nah nah nah nah nah nah, you're a lousy tiger,' that would be one thing," Keane said. "The taunting itself would have to be some kind of conduct that a reasonable person would know would be dangerous, like going up on top of the fense and trying to lure the thing out. It would have to be more than throwing peanut shells at the tiger."

8. If the guy carried a slingshot into the zoo...
Well...

fuck him.

I have been around large animals all my life, and I have seen pencil-dicks such as that idiot asshole do some incredibly stupid things to try to feel equal to a much finer being.

If I witnessed some dickhead firing a slingshot-driven projectile into a large animal cage, I would gladly remove said dickhead from the Potential Gene Pool myself.

10. Sorry, I don't have a link, just heard it in passing & Hanna is speculating.
I would hate to see anyone prosecuted on hearsay and rumor. Especially if the "sources" leaking the information have something to gain from getting the info out in the public.

16. Oh yes, I knew he was speculating, but was just adding it to
the discussion. I hadn't heard the reversal (that it's all all untrue) re: slingshot, rock, blood and shoeprint on handrail, etc.

I'm sure we'll be hearing lots of different theories and claims on this. I'd like to know what really happened. Thanks for your reply.

Same guy who said Scott Peterson didn't murder his wife.

mah, doesn't mean much to me when a hired attorney/advocate says his client didn't do anything wrong.

9. How about waiting to find out what is real vs what is NYPost "reporting"?
Hello, rumor control. NYPost reports slingshot rumor, it is picked up and gets a life of its own.

...It had been previously reported that slingshots were found among men's possessions following the attack, fueling speculation that the weapons were used to antagonize the tiger. However, SFPD spokesman Steve Mennina says police did not find any slingshots at the scene of the tiger attack.

13. Keane is full of shit and he even contradicted his own assertion in essentially the same
breath.

There is a wide range of constructive actions by third parties that could partially or totally mitigate the zoo's liability.
What if a visitor cut the lock and released an animal? Should the zoo be held responsible in that case? It's just a matter of degree.

Though on this we do agree. AS IF the cretins were the tigers and not the homo sapians. (Note to the P.C. police that is NOT a gay slur)

I grew up around large animals who were constantly harrassed by drunken idiots.

And I have no patience or mercy when it comes to those kinds of folks.
