How would your candidate answer these five questions...
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 10:12 AM by madinmaryland
First, are you able to admit a mistake and, as a chief executive, take responsibility for it and work humbly to undo any damage resulting from it?

Second, will you listen to others and give thoughtful weight to reasonable arguments with which you may be inclined to disagree?

Third, will you show sufficient curiosity about the world to believe that you can learn from and respond with care to changing global circumstances that affect your fellow citizens?

Fourth, will you demonstrate enough respect to other human beings to be truthful with them, even if that costs you politically?

And finally, will you state categorically that you will not start a war?

1. Joe Biden scores 5 out of 5

I haven't heard him "state categorically" and he in fact promoted use of force in Bosnia, and supported the Afghanistan attack. So maybe its only 4 out of 5. But "start a war" in my mind is different from a measured use of force when the situation warrants. The question would be like telling the cops they can't use handcuffs on suspects.

Anyway, on the other 4, he is a hands-down 100%, not just by word but repeatedly demonstrated deed. And he is quite clear he would not "start a war" in the sense that bush did when he violated the terms of the resolution to use force.

3. I think the last question is really asking if the candidate would
start an unprovoked war. A war to defend the country would not be considered "starting" a war. So I think Biden would answer the last one "no"
