Congrats Obama supporters, but I'm still for Hillary!
We have three FANTASTIC candidates for President. I personally continue to support Hillary, but you have to congratulate Obama for being and excellent candidate and running a great campaign.

Whoever wins this race is going to be the next President of the US. We are going to make history eitherway.

On to New Hampshire!

2. It's looking great in New Hampshire for Hillary
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 09:09 AM by ccpup
She leads in Polls anywhere from 4 points to 12 points and, even with a post-Iowa caucus bounce, there's still work for everyone to do. I suspect the battle will continue through NV (where she has a a very nice lead) and into SC. SC may become more important than usual.

And Super Tuesday? Ah, hell, I'm going to need a damn sedative and a padded room by then!

(edited a second time because NM and NV are NOT the same State)

4. Admire your optimism but...........

As an Edwards supporter, I'm somewhat disappointed by last night's results. I suspect his campaign will essentially be over by next week. The press, which marginalized him in Iowa, will now pronounce him dead then ignore him completely from here on. He wasn't going to win NH anyway. He needed Iowa more than anyone. It was a good run but it wasn't to be. So now I have to move on. My hope is that Obama can stop the Clinton machine in NH & SC and ultimately win the nomination. I have always doubted that Hillary's support was as strong as the media wanted us to think it was. To this day, in one of the bluest states in the US, I have yet to meet one person who considered Hillary as their first choice as nominee. Finally, I may be reading too much into this but when you looked at photos of the people surrounding the 3 top vote getters after the voting yesterday you saw a lot of middle aged people for Edwards, a lot of younger folks with Barack and a large number of people who looked to be older than 60, many whom I'd refer to as "ladies of a certain age" with Hillary. Is that the base that a viable national campaign needs to be built upon in 2008? The photo I saw seemed to be a metaphor for what I think is a major problem in her campaign. Madeline Albright for god's sake? You can mouth the word "change" all you want but that group looked pretty status quo to these eyes. As they say "a picture is worth 10,000 words. If I was a Clinton backer, I'd be really nervous today. BTW, if Hillary is the nominee; I will, however unenthusiastically, vote for her.

11. That's not what I said.....
I said the race will "essentially be over" for him. He needed to win in Iowa to get the traction to compete in NH. Had he won, a second in NH and SC would have been possible due to the press he would have continued to receive. I'm guessing he'll now finish behind Obama and Hillary. He could still get 2nd in SC behind Barack but already the media has written him off, he doesn't have the cash of the other two and that's pretty much the kiss of death. I'm just being realistic......

7. Yes, Congrats to Obama supporters!
I've pretty much stayed out of the DU primary debates
because I'm thrilled with all of the candidates.

That being said, I personally prefer Senator Clinton; however,
I'll work for and vote for the Dem nominee...

whoever it turns out to be.

Obama's campaign deserves major snaps for bringing
so many new voters to the process and for being a
well organized machine!

8. I'm not a Hillary supporter, but this is a good thing for her long term
because

1) Motivation. Sometimes a team needs a swat on the backside.

2) Public perception. It wouldn't look good, frankly, if everyone fell into line and crowned our presumptive nominee without any kind of a fight. If Hillary is to have a shot in the general, she'll have to show that she can be tough.

9. I'll sign on to those sentiments too
The game is at last underwy, and now we know who the real players are. I'm excited by the high turnout for us and the depressed numbers for the bad guys. May we choose the best candidate and kick repub butt in November!

10. Well said johncoby2
and I echo both your Congrats to Obama and his supporters for a great showing and your continued support for Hillary. The other great news out of Iowa was the poor showing by the most dangerous Republican candidate, IMHO, Ghouliani.
