Ron Paul Kicked Giuliani's Ass!!!!!

Following on the heels of Thompson and McCain was Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, at 10 percent. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani finished near the back of the pack at 4 percent.

He couldn't even get 9.11% of the vote

he hardly bothered to campaign there, and is banking on making up ground in the later, larger states.

You have to remember that Iowa is one of the most conservative states in the country, probably only behind Kansas. The repbulican who wins Iowa is generally seen as the most conservative of the pack, which is why it should come as no surprise that Rudy faired so poorly. He is going to get MUCH more support in more metropolitan states. His campaign tactics (I think) were pretty smart here. Why dump a lot of your budget in a state you have no chance of winning in? He will go big in the southern states with high electorals (Florida and Texas). I think Rudy might be jumping the gun and already thinking about the regular election but if he wins New York, Florida and Texas in the general he becomes pretty hard to beat.

A lot of the hard-core bible thumpers see Mitt and the Huckster as the only real "religion and family values" candidate (now that Brownback is out).

Giuliani picks Hialeah over Iowa
