I'm behind Edwards all the way: Here's why
Because I want to see a candidate who specifically makes it about the invisible, the unnoticed, and the forgotten. I want to see a candidate who speaks to, and for, those people every time he takes the stage. I want to see a candidate for whom poverty isn't just a part-time, election season consideration, but an all-the-time, never forgotten issue.

I want a candidate who knows who and what we're up against, a candidate who's been inside the beltway, who knows the deal-making that goes on, and says "we've had enough of THIS!"

Obama made a rousing speech last night. But it was, to me (and my wife, who isn't bound to any candidate at this point) a speech long on platitudes, but short on specifics. I've said this before, and I'll keep saying it. If he's actually the candidate, I will happily get behind him. But I STILL want to know what the hell he stands for other than "unity" and "hope."

Edwards spoke for me last night, as he ALWAYS has. Because none of this is about me. It's about the people easily cast aside and swept under the rug. The people struggling to survive because the money makers decided they weren't as important as the bottom line. As usual.

I think Edwards carries a load of guilt and shame for some of the things he did while he was in Washington, making deals that he knew hurt the people he understands and cares about. And I think his whole purpose now is doing what it takes to make up for it. He's been inside the monster, and once he climbed back out into the real world, he set about taking that monster apart.

I'm for Edwards. For America. For the Forgotten. For us all.

strikes me as a little long on platitudes and short on specifics.

5. You say poverty, but he says middle class
Why won't he just come out and say it, if that's what he means?

12. Because a strong middle class is the only
avenue anyone has for escaping poverty. Without somewhere to go, there is no escape.

7. LOL!
I love it when people use cardboard cut out rhetoric. And frankly, I doubt whether anyone much cares whether you vote. I know I don't.

Continue with your irrelevant threat in the next thread now.

13. You know, there are less obnoxious ways to get your point across...
Not that you'd ever use one.

14. I will vote for a Dem over any alternative
even though I loathe the corporatist side of things. The alternative--a dominionist-backed repuke with even stronger corporatist ties than the worst Dem choice--is simply unacceptable.

I like your handle, btw. Judaspriestess? Too cool.

15. Edwards is OK, but.....
...the one guy who would destroy any republican candidate isn't running, and I believe it is a pity because the country will suffer if a Repub gets in, again.

A ticket of Gore/Clark would destroy any republican ticket.

Gore is intelligent, experienced, and worldly, and teamed with General Clark would be a dynamic President/Vice President for our nation.

I wish the DNC would do whatever it takes to convince Gore to run.

16. There IS nothing that would convince Gore to run...
It's really that simple.

18. Unfortunately,
...Unfortunately, I agree with those that say nothing can convince Gore to run.

I can only hoppe that it does not end up being the catalyst to put another republican in the white house, Gore's non presence, cause right now, Obama, IMO, can not win.

19. I disagree with that assessment.
I think Obama CAN win. I'm just not sure it's the best course for the country at this juncture.
