Lies, Lies, Lies..
all of a sudden the media and the pundits are so surprised that the unemployment rate is suppose to be 5% which is another lie. Everyone plays hide and seek and act as though they haven't known because they want to buy or sell some stock. The mortage crisis, the dollar falling, homelessness, are all things that most of america has known now for years. The media is full of shit the unemployment rate is higher than the five percent they are spouting.

Whoever the candidate is they can tell us all day long about what they are going to do but when they get in to office they are going to find out how messed up it really is. This is the wrong time for the fake, phony, scary and hypocritical media to not tell the truth and this is the wrong time to be picking candidates who don't really know as much as they should about this government.

Look at the news yesterday, Kenya, Turkey are new uprising that are happening around the world,I can't wait to see what these so called great candidates that have been chosen will say about it.Bush is lying about foreign and domestic policy, but now we the people will begin to hear everything that is wrong with the country now that all of the best candidates are out of the race. if any of our candidates win they will be blamed for all of the bush policies and the media will be all too happy to help out but, they kept their damn mouths shut when bush was fucking up this country. If the repugs win, which really may happen and (at one time I thought that they couldn't)this country is really through.

1. Does it still work in a totally disingenuous way that as soon as a person is no longer eligible
for unemployment benefits, they are no longer counted?

It would appear as such.

2. NO! The employment stats are derived from the CPS.
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 03:13 PM by TahitiNut
Current Population Survey, conducted by the Bureau of the Census

The statistical figures have NOTHING to do with unemployment benefits - either eligibility or exhaustion.

11. Read the FAQ at the Bureau of Labor Statistics site ...
http://www.bls.gov/cps/cps_faq.htm

Why does the Government collect statistics on the unemployed?

Where do the statistics come from?

What are the basic concepts of employment and unemployment?

Who is counted as employed?

Who is counted as unemployed?

Who is not in the labor force?

What about cases of overlap?

How large is the labor force?

How are seasonal fluctuations taken into account?

What do the unemployment insurance figures measure?

How is unemployment measured for States and local areas?

Is there a measure of underemployment?

Have there been any changes in the definition of unemployment?

How are the unemployed counted in other countries?

4.  I agree with you .
Now that there is this media bill coming up when the house and senate return and if this passes there will be even more lies spread out and then how do we get this undone ?

I don't trust anything anylonger ,not what we are told ,what we are to believe and who we are to trust even with the presidential hopefuls .

The job situation and un-employment has been an ongoing lie , I see it here , I don't need some statistic to tell me there are no jobs or even ones that pay much at all or that the people over 50 are screwed and ruled out or any chance of getting a job at all let alone keeping the one they have . Once you dry up the un-employment benefits you are off the list and not counted .

5. Some people have blinders on...
they really believe some of this garbage. Like I said this is the wrong time to be choosing candidates who will begin having problems during the campaign and there will be no turning back, I believe the swift boaters are going to be having a lot of fun. I will wait and see.

The dems have already showed us they are weak and simple minded I wanted someone who would not have to hem and haw and beat around the "BUSH" watch and wait the media will now begin jumping on their every single word the Dems will be spending all of the campaign talking about what they want to talk about...

6.  Yes , and just What about now ?
These elections have a year to go , what about the people who still have to down down the tubes in the next year . Even if a Dem wins what's to say these people and many others will ever pull out of their nose dive ?

I still feel impeachment off the table was a bad move , sure many people will be just fine but many many won't . A year is a long time to hold onto some form of hope .

10. Now everyone will begin asking all of the questions that...
should have been asked well before now. The media has picked the candidates and now when certain subjects will come up everyone will begin saying I didn't know that or why wasn't this asked before now. Some of these hosts on television and radio want to tell us what is best for the party but I am not listening, they are filling their pockets just like the rest of them.
