Clinton: "We have people....plotting against us right now, ...ready to repeat .. atrocity of 911."
Clinton reaches for the right argument

(George Rizer/Globe Staff)

Former President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton listen to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at a rally this morning in Nashua, N.H.

By Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor
Marcella Bombardieri, Globe Staff

January 4, 2008

Five hours after her chartered flight from Des Moines landed in New Hampshire, Clinton gave what may be the most striking speech of her campaign so far. Reeling from her surprisingly big loss in the Iowa caucuses, she is clearly reaching for a bold new way to combat winner Barack Obama -- though it doesn't appear she has settled on a consistent argument.

Clinton usually only talks about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks when she speaks of her work helping Ground Zero workers cope with medical problems.

But in an airport hangar this morning, she said: "We have people who are plotting against us right now, getting ready to repeat the atrocity of Sept 11. We know it, I see the intelligence reports."

She also said, "I don’t think there has ever been a more important decision for the citizens of New Hampshire."

.....

"It's kind of interesting that it took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush. I think it might take another one to clean up after the second Bush," she said.

.....

She also returned to an argument she has not focused on in recent weeks, the idea that she is the most electable Democrat. She said that her previous battles with Republicans ready her for the "blazing inferno" of combat the Republicans will unleash in the general election -- an obvious reference to Obama, whom the Clinton camp says is untested and unvetted.

"Of all the people running for president, I've been most vetted, the most investigated, and my goodness," she said with a laugh, "the most innocent it turns out."

.....

3. 1. She sees the intelligence reports
but we know she doesn't read them.

2. Giuliani isn't doing well in NH, don't know why she wants to channel him.

3. So she'll prioritize balanced budget over human needs, like Bill was forced to do by Greenspan, so the next Rep president has a lot of money to spend on defense and cronies?

4. Before she can beat Reps, she has to prove she can beat Dems.

seeing the intelligence reports and reading the intelligence reports are two different thing.

maybe if she starts reading them, she just might start changing her votes in the Senate.

There are bad people out there, but we have them here as well. John Yoo, the unqualified cronies that Bush appointed to jobs that could be done better by 2 dead batteries and an off switch, a DoJ that is about justice like Stalin was about democracy, and a myriad of other useless appendages of this administration and its cronies on the bench and in the congress.

The bad people on the outside, I don't have much of a problem with, we can see them coming, it's the ones on the inside who are destroying this country that I'm more concerned about. And maybe Hillary and the crew should start dealiong with that reality, instead of using the Bush gambit!!!!!

She was just going through a stage... clearly! Stunning is right. And the best part is that she seems to be a very nice young woman. No stories of her showing up on her parent's front lawn in a Hello Kitty sleep shirt and flip flops! No pictures of her showing her cooter to photographers (please... every woman knows exactly what she shows)! Had she been a party animal, we would have known all about it, without question.

39. Will Marshall, the co-founder of the DLC and PNAC signatory.
(snip)

Although Marshall calls himself a "centrist," he has associated himself with neoconservative organizations and their radical foreign policy agendas. At the onset of the Iraq invasion, Marshall signed statements issued by the Project for the New American Century calling for the removal of Saddam Hussein, advocating that NATO help "secure and destroy all of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction," and arguing that the invasion "can contribute decisively to the democratization of the Middle East."

Marshall's credentials as a liberal hawk have been well established by his affinity for other PNAC-associated groups, including the U.S. Committee on NATO and the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq. Marshall served on the board of directors of the U.S. Committee on NATO alongside such leading neoconservative figures as Robert Kagan, Richard Perle, Randy Scheunemann, Paul Wolfowitz, Stephen Hadley, Peter Rodman, Jeffrey Gedmin, Gary Schmitt, and the committee's founder and president Bruce Jackson. At the request of the Bush administration, Jackson also formed the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, which, with former DLC chairman Joseph Lieberman serving as co-chair with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), aimed to build bipartisan support for the liberation, occupation, and democratization of Iraq. Marshall, together with former Democratic Sen. Robert Kerrey of Nebraska (who coauthored "Progressive Internationalism"), represented the liberal hawk wing of the Democratic Party on the committee's neocon-dominated advisory board. Other advisers included James Woolsey, Eliot Cohen, Newt Gingrich, William Kristol, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Joshua Muravchik, Chris Williams, and Richard Perle.

On February 25, 2003, Marshall joined an array of neoconservatives marshaled by the Social Democrats/USA (SD/USA)—a wellspring of neoconservative strategy—to sign a letter to Bush calling for the invasion of Iraq. Marshall and others asked the president to "act alone if that proves necessary" and then, as a follow-up to a military-induced regime change in Iraq, to implement a democratization plan. The SD/USA letter urged the president to commit his administration to "maintaining substantial U.S. military forces in Iraq for as long as may be required to ensure a stable, representative regime is in place and functioning." Others signing the SD/USA letter included Jackson, Kagan, Woolsey, Hillel Fradkin, Rachelle Horowitz, Penn Kemble, Nina Shea, Michael Novak, Clifford May, and Ben Wattenberg.

65. The Clintons know of the PNAC due to it's pressure
on the Clinton administration. The push towards invading Iraq was ultimately deemed going too far under Bill Clinton. Also, as far as terrorism goes, the Clinton administration played ball with some of the same people the bush administration has. They are also aware of using terrorism as a tool.

She doesn't say these things, but now she has, and it smacks of desperation.

And until the dust blows high in June while riding through Kashmir, and the elders of a gentle race have all revealed to them and we know for sure what was behind all this Osama bin Laden/al Qaeda deal, we can only assume she is wrong.

But if you are so sure that the US media has told you the truth, carry on...

Call us back when you a find a Clinton that can STOP a Bush from making a big mess. That "mess" is detroyed lives. Lost honor, integrity, and credibility on the world stage. Lost Freedoms and liberties. On 9/11 we had a President that just sat around watching people make a big mess in NY for him to capitolize on. We don't need another President to do that. We need a President that can stop the mess. Cleaning it up is too little too late. Sorry Mrs. Bush er um Clinton.

67. gee, she's beginning to sound like.......
So do we take this as a warning, that IF she doesn't win, we are going to be attacked??? interesting...very interesting....trouble is the first Clinton didn't really clean up anything after * 1....and now they appear to be great pals....so what makes us think she will do any more of a clean up job after * 2?....when anyone starts talking about knowing people are planning to attack us again....then other people better wake up enough to see the warning flags, and ask...what the hell is anyone doing about it?...wb
