Here's a good man...who can deliver a good speech all by himself....without the help of a teleprompter.

It's not a slick, fluffy speech full of vague platitudes. It's a real person, making a real speech.

1. He doesn't employ a speech writer -
Elizabeth said it herself, on DKos after the Ann Coulter circus. I think that's amazing.

3. He is a good man. And he is married to a great woman.

7. Edwards has not accepted funds from Washington lobbyists.
My wife has been behind Edwards for months.
I've been receptive to his message, but was won over by his speech.
Check it out...

Obama is in the pocket of the health insurance lobby.
Clinton will energize the mullet-head RW base.
Ergo, the only logical choice is now Edwards.

2. I had the pleasure of hearing his stump speech in person
a couple of weeks before the caucus - incredibly moving...far more than I thought possible for this cynical 43-year-old listener!

4. Let's remember this. Edwards is the real thing.
For those who doubt Edwards' sincerity, let's hear your candidate speak from the heart without the help of a speechwriter.

5. I agree. Celebrity endorsements and slick, fluffy marketing do NOT make a good candidate anymore.
We've all been there. Done that.

I want a SMART person who can think on his/her feet to be President.

Not some slick polished politician who bends according to which way the wind blows.

6. I'm of the opinion that his speech wasn't any less or more real than the others...
Whether it's done with or without the benefit of teleprompters, speech writers or whatever...it's still a speech. You find his way more preferable which is fine.

I felt it wasn't a good speech for Edwards. I've seen him do far better. Obama gave an outstanding speech that blended hope with passion, but I've seen others where I felt he stumbled along. Hillary was okay and she handled herself with class, I thought. When it comes to speeches...sometimes you hit one out of the ballpark and other times you fall flat.

After next Tuesday, the speeches could all be completely different. So much more goes into a speech other than just who wrote it and that teleprompters aren't used. We're talking construction, cadence, style and more when it comes to delivery. Obama hit all the marks when he delivered his speech.

8. I watched a good deal of Obama's speech and was so disappointed
I stopped watching it. I thought it was boring. The crowd was great, but the speech was boring.

My father was a prize winning debater and a wonderful, eloquent speaker. I'm very hard to please. I think Edwards is the best.

9. Obama's delivery played very well, IMO.
I still feel that Edwarwds has done far better in the past.

I get really picky, too. State champ LD debater here. :) I spent high school and some of my college time competing in tournaments from locals to state competitions. Did a lot of judging afterwards as well.

I really miss it. Tried to get the two oldest ones into it when they began high school. They opted for band and choir instead.

11. I was on the debate team in high school, but (a girl in a southern state)
too shy and inhibited to debate. I did the research for a guy who was not very bright. Many, many years later, I finally became a lawyer. Had I been born at a time when I could have benefited from women's lib, I would have become a lawyer much earlier. I think that one reason I like Edwards so much is that I know what a struggle he had to overcome his small town background and his lower middle class background and rise up and become the outstanding lawyer that he is. That took talent, but also the courage to fight and to make his way.

Obama had it easier. I appreciate the fact that Obama was a community organizer for the poor in Chicago for some time (not sure how long he actually did that, at most three years from 1985-1988, or just what his role in it was). His grandmother, I learned tonight, was a bank vice president. Obama went to an excellent high school in Hawaii. Edwards did not enjoy that kind of education. Obama went to Occidental College, then Columbia University and on to Harvard Law School. Edwards went to the University of North Carolina including UNC's Law School. We have seen pictures of the home that Edwards' parents took him to when he was born. It was very small, very humble. Obama really did not struggle the way Edwards did. Edwards is the grandson of sharecroppers -- poor whites to use the offensive term for it. I really identify with Edwards' background and struggle. I think a lot of Americans do. I believe that Edwards can reach people who have not voted for a Democrat in years. Rural America is waiting to hear form Edwards. I'm afraid if we don't nominate Edwards, we will have a President Huckabee. No one seems to be thinking of that.

10. That pointing thing he does makes me nuts.
Sort of like a little woodpecker working the whole time. And that woodpecker is ambidextrous, too.

12. I was yawning.
After a while I turned it off. His College Professor talk always monotones me to death and makes me want to wash the dishes, or anything that's more exciting.

Frankly, I often think he is a right-wing plant, as though they told him "Look, if you win, cool for you, you bend things in our favor. If you lose, we won't forget you, and you will be famous for getting so far."
