I know it's against protocol for a past President to discuss a current President's conduct.
I am so grateful to President Carter that he finally chose to breach that protocol.

I'm wondering if it is also against protocol for a past President to endorse a current Presidential candidate. My hubby says no, but he used Reagan as his example. I reminded him that one cannot look to the Republics for appropriate behavior. So, I open it to the peanut gallery. What do you guys think?

3. Funny you should mention that,
my hubby, who often has perfect comedic timing, asked me who I thought Bill would endorse. I actually thought about it for a second before I burst out in laughter.

7. Well, yeah,
plus he wants to be President again. They were a team President before, and if they win, they will be a team President again.

2. Which specific breach of protocol are you referring to?
With regard to former President Carter, didn't he make headlines when he criticized President Clinton for the behavior with Monica Lewinsky that got him impeached?

4. It is my understanding (and I could be wrong),
that there are a set of expected behaviors for past Presidents. I don't know if these are written anywhere nor do I know the specifics.

6. I don't see why they couldn't give their opinions if they feel strongly
about it. Another one that could be broken is this unspoken need to pardon everybody when wrongs are done.

10. Yeah, I tried to find something on the web and couldn't
I still have a hard time believing that Gore didn't get into the race. I think he should endorse a candidate. I know who I want him to endorse but more than that, I want him to influence this race, at least. If Obama has Oprah, and HRC has former President Clinton, I think Gore should even it out.
