GOP vs. Democratic Debate: The GOP Still Had Their Loonbat Candidate ...
... at the table.

I hope that helped sway some independents.

2. Wow, how did you spot the Loonbat,
I thought they all qualified for that title, although some more than others.

10. The One Who Made the Others on Stage...
... laugh.

The sad part is, a lot of what he says has some truth to it.

4. You mean, "Loonbat Candidates" , right?
Cause they're all Loonbats. There's a lot of bantering going on amongst my DU brethren over Dem candidates, but I must say, any of them are a bazillion times better than the Loonbats. :hi:

9. GOP and Loonbat are synonyms
So you'll need to be more specific. But if you meant Ron Paul... yeah, unfortunately he does have independent appeal. Hell, he even appeals to some Democrats. I can't even begin to understand it, but he does. That's American politics these days.

13. The Contrasts Were Obvious
All of these candidates (except for Fred whose been napping and Rudy whose been in Florida) have been on an all-out sprint for the past 10 days. We're talking dozens of rallies a day, TV appearances, meet and greets...it's gotta be a blur to keep things straight. The effects showed last night and in interesting ways.

All the Repugnicans except for the Huckster looked tired and beat. Their debate looked like a verbal college final...they all hated having to be there. On virtually every issue the majority of the candidates showed how out of touch they were with the middle class and the electorate. You could see their disdain for the concept of "change" and stuck in the boooosh legacy. Most live in the parallel universe where manufactured wedge issues trump substantial ones. Where "illegal immigration" has proven to be a total dud in Iowa and if it doesn't fly there it's dead elasewhere...there are no wedge issues that bring any of these candiates together...nothing the party can have a good group hate on...other than Ron Paul.

Inversely, the Democrats were sharp and on point. They spoke directly to issues of substance such as health care and Iraq over phantom ones. Agree to disagree, each candidate got their points across and it gave the voters plenty to compare and contrast with.

14. I Think It Was a Big Help to Have ...
... only 4 Dems on stage, and I could've done without Richardson.

17. It's The Process Playing Out
Some may complain, but we saw the 4 top choices of Democratic voters on the stage. The electorate were able to size up the candidates and now decide who goes on. I didn't mind Richardson being there (other than his constant 30 second repetition of his resume) as he represented on that stage the diversity of the party...a black, a woman, a Hispanic...how this party represents far more of the American people and all groups have their voice.

It was a big contrast to the debate I saw in person last August...with ALL the candidates and most unable to utter a couple sentences before they were cut off. And I look forward to the debates before Nevada when I suspect we'll see the ultimate showdown between the two remaining candidates (no, I'm not making a prediction who)

Cheers...

btw...I'm sure you can't be too besides yourself with Mark Penn's current state of affairs...

18. It Is Indeed...
... although Richardson seems to be trying to convince himself with that repeated line of "and that's why I'm running for President."

Stockdalish.

As for Penn: oh, I might sprain some things when the inevitable happens.
