Through The Looking Glass...GOOPers Aren't Happy Campers
Wanna really see the soul searching going on in the parallel universe?

I stumbled on this earlier...(bypass the Hewitt shit spewing)...the comments are really rich!!

http://townhall.com/columnists/HughHewitt/2008/01/04/the_really_long_campaign?page=full&comments=true

Over 200,000 plus excited, energized--and so outright nutty-- democrats showed up in droves tonight in Iowa. The Obama win was impressive, but the passion Iowa dems shared for all three democratic candidates was even more impressive. No way to spin it, it has to be a wakeup call for Republicans for it is going to take a different kind of candidate to beat them in November. The tides turned in the dems favor tonight big time tonight. The stakes are much higher.

What is with the Republican base? Do they care about issues anymore? When did we become such wimps and complain about ads contrasting the views of different opponents? Don't we want to know what the views of our candidates are? And should we take offense like McCain and Huck have done in recent weeks if someone fairly reminds the public about their less than stellar conservative records? I thought we had a bigger spine than that. I thought we loved a good fight.

Schadenfraude doesn't begin to describe the material here. The circular firing squads are a joy to behold.

1. Very intersting discussion.
It would seem that they are getting the idea that they have been used by the Wall Street crowd. And they certainly
sound like they are not ready for Romney! Populism is gaining traction on the right. Hmmm.

3. Yet They Still Don't Get It
Their idea of "populism" is either jetisoning the social or the fiscal side of their corrupt party, but nothing here of any real substance. It's the unraveling of the Rove/DeLay machine...and the pawns are starting to wake up that they've been had...yet they still don't know who fleeced 'em.

Each candidate is a alice of this corrupt party's faults...and none is greater than the whole. The good thing for Democrats is this disintegration has just begun...no matter who wins the nomination, some segment is staying home. Then after the election, the knives will be out big time...and these people play the blame game like an Olympic sport.

5. Republicans are soft on Republican crimes.
I'd bet some Republican pawns know who fleeced 'em. I'd bet they are ashamed too. I'd bet they are annoyed about (former Vice) President Al Gore being so right about so many things for so many years.

I'm not sure if I would bet on when Republican pawns lose all hope that their daddystate will do anything about the problems. Let's see if they all vote (D) in November, that might wake up the RNC.

4. Even if they haven't lost the home yet, they definitely see the
value of their most valuable nest egg (for most repukes, even upper class ones) plunge.

And then there is that never ending pesky war in Iraq. And things are worse in Pakistan and Afghanistan (where we had kicked butt and taken names earlier). And the trip to Europe with the kids is out because the dollar isn't worth shit anymore... and gasoline is $3.20 or $3.50 a gallon and their SUV lovin asses can't stand going down to put $100 in every week. And then, for some of them, they secretly KNOW that global warming is real, even though they HATE that Al Gore is telling them about it. And it worries them too (in their little shriveled up heart of hearts). And then there are all those scandals from Bush... their Bush, the guy that looked them in the eye and said "I will restore honor to the White House". Sure, they are certain that most of those scandals are just so much sour grapes from those commie pinko LIEBRALS the Rush tells them about. But so many scandals, and some of them sex scandals or things that just don't seem right to anyone, like leaking the name of covert CIA operatives. And they know, in those dark places and late at night when their friends aren't around and the radio/TV isn't spewing the talking points... they know that Bush is incompetent and lied us into the war. And it eats them up.

And then look at who they have to choose from... robots like Mitt, St. Rudy of the 9/11, and some grumpy old men... and one scary evangelical.

If I were them, I would be suicidal.

2. They claim to have discovered Phelpses on Huck's phones...
Excuse the GOP spelling and grammar:

Huck and his evangelicals
Earlier today I was watching one of the cable news channels (I'm 90% sure it was Fox) and they had a short segment where they visited a few campaign offices that were located in the same building in Iowa. They would show people manning the phones in each of the headquarters. When they got to Huckabees headquarters and showed people working the phones, I recognized 2 of the young women on the phone bank. I recognized these two from a documentary I watched recently about Fred Phelps and his weird church. You know, that's the church that would go to Military funerals and protest calling our soldiers evil. Anyway, the 2 women are his daughters! This is not good if Huckabee realy considers himself a Christian, because Fred Phelps and his crew are definately NOT Christian!

6. the writer of this comment "gets it"
"The GOP has been hijacked by neo-con Wall Street globalists. They might talk a good game, but they could care less about the social values issues. They only care about how to incease their already fat financial portfolios, and those of their friends. G.W. Bush is one of them. Mitt Romney is one of them. Rudy Giuliani is one of them. Mike Huckabee is not one of them and he appeals to the vast MAJORITY of GOP VOTERS. The middle class, blue collar workers, social conservatives and religious voters that were brought into the Republican Party by Ronald Reagan. The current power-brokers of the RNC and their minions (Drudge, Rush, Hugh, Hannity, Ingraham, etc...) are just carrying the water of the elites...and the elites wanted to shove Romney down the people's throats. Guess what? They fooled them with G.W. Bush...but the people got wise. They aren't going to vote for Huckabee because of his religion. They are going to vote for him because he is a populist...just like Reagan was when he brought in the great unwashed to the GOP and gave them numbers of voters they had never seen before. The current batch of GOP elites have tried their best to squander away those numbers by marginalizing "the folks". Guess what? The folks want their party, and their country, back."

To see Repukes attacking Repukes frightens and confuses them.

14. The comments are fascinating.
It almost makes me feel sorry for the R's to see just how divided they are. Each of their candidates seems to be disliked by a majority of their voters! Still, someone's got to win the nomination.

I was also struck by how much more civil and intelligent the comments on this board are compared with the largely-cretin group over at FR. All those correctly spelled words! And complete sentences too.

I laughed out loud at this comment:

I am not really a Mitt fan though. I am really troubled about his Integrity and the recent lies he has be caught in. I wanted Newt to run but he let me down. Now I dont feel particulary excited about any of them but I will support whoever gets the nod because the worst GOP guy is better than any of the Liberals.

Wow! Welcome to Bizarro World, where everything is backwards.

18. That's Why I Highlighted This Link
I found it via Atrios and had to look to see what the great unwashed had to opine. TownHall tends to be a more "intellectual" site and the view there are more "middle-class" as opposed to the reaction-monkeys at the other sites. Those people are easy to laugh at since they are so one-dimensional and predictable. These folks show genuine angst and frustration...watching their party fracture and a looming election disaster in November. It's quite a contrast to the blustery bloviating that came out of these people in the wake of the '04 elections. It's been a very long ride down and the bottom isn't even in sight.

Cheers...

17. "I thought we loved a good fight" Absolutely wrong
Republicans and conservatives like nothing better than a bad fight. One where their opponent is trussed up like a Christmas goose and whacked like a pinata. Which I guess constitutes "good" in their sick little world. Because the very last thing any Republican or conservative wants is a fair fight in which both sides have an equal opportunity to present and press their case. Tune in Billo, Sean or Rush some time. They rule their broadcast roosts absolutely, and anyone who begins to gain the upper hand is summarily cut off. They love their enemies bound and gagged, and their adversaries to be inanimate, whether it's a straw man they create out of thin air or a piece of audio or video.

20. Democratic voters like a good fight. Republicans like a canned hunt.
And Democratic politicians like to give a reach-around across the aisle.
