The executive branch of US government has seen a steady growth of power over the past seven years. The people holding office have been able to wield power in areas that may exceed their authority to do so. Within a year, the office holders must relinquish their powers (legal and otherwise) to others.
It is important to the 'power players' in the Democratic Party that an important issue be understood. Members of the outgoing administration are desperate to get the incoming administration to give them a mulligan, a "do over", a get out of jail card.
I am in no mood to accept anything less than complete return of USA to the rule of law. This inherently includes accountability. I write this because, instead of calling an honest reckoning in the people's name we have twaddle being passed off. The blog entry by Gary Hart at Huffington Post is an example of a sellout by a Democratic Party enabler.

Assuming shrub, prior to his leaving office in 2009, gives himself and or his minions, a presidential pardon, he is then beyond US law (criminal and civil) for his crimes (this applies to all recipients of pardons). He will be free to hide in Texas without fear of US law.
Any nation can bring charges against shrub, the ex-VP or ex-Secretary of Defense (and others) in the International Court of Justice at The Hague, Netherlands. The new president could then render the accused for trial as a war criminal.
This seems to be the only option open to the people of USA to hold the shrub junta accountable.
