In our Times of Great NEED

And that is an understatement,

We shouldn't focus on electing:

The first Black Man president,
The first Woman president,

That's all nice and warm and fuzzy, and if things weren't so very fucked up, I might give it a second thought, but we are in dire straights and we need someone to be the champion of Americans, not just their sex or race.

That's another reason why I support JOHN EDWARDS!!!

Please don't flame this. I am neither sexist or a racist, it's just I see no reason to make it a reason for supporting them! And I think it is happening more than you think!!!

But that's secondary to representing us, and I don't believe Clinton or Obama are interested in doing that.

Btw, tell Edwards to knock off the Iran s*** and the other hawkish stuff- we have enough problems to fix within our own borders. At that point, I'll be happy to vote for him.

...their gender or race? I guess Edwards would only be an advocate for white men, then, since, you seemingly believe people are only capable of representing those of the same gender and color as themselves.

Have you considered that maybe Clinton or Obama might, because of their gender and race, have a deeper understanding of the plight of the underdog in American society than a white guy?

3. as far as i realized

we are living in a time when the majority of americans are being treated as a minority, namely the poor and powerless and minorities of the wealthy and powerfull, in short gender and race struggles while still present are not as prevelant as the class struggle.

I'm just saying that I think a lot of Obama or Clinton supporters are swayed by the fact that it will be historical to elect them. That's all. I said no such thing about Edwards advocating anything about being white, blah,b;ah,b;ah.

7. if you can't take into account all aspects of a candidate, including

the qualities that differentiate them from the 'norm'- then all we're ever gonna have is white male leaders.

Anyone who is basing their vote for a candidate on sex or race isn't interested in the real issues anyhow- :shrug:
