Hillary Clinton: al Qaeda "watch our elections as closely as we do"

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2008/01/clinton_heighte.html

DOVER, N.H. – Facing the prospect of defeat in tomorrow’s primary, Hillary Clinton just made her strongest suggestion yet that the next president may face a terrorist attack – and that she would be the best person to handle it.

She pointed out that the day after Gordon Brown took office as the British prime minister, there was a failed attempt at a double bombing in London and Glasgow.

“I don’t think it was by accident that Al Qaeda decided to test the new prime minister,” she said. “They watch our elections as closely as we do, maybe more closely than some of our fellows citizens do…. Let’s not forget you’re hiring a president not just to do what a candidate says during the election, you want a president to be there when the chips are down.”

11. Only Hillary can save us from the scary Ay-rab boogermen
Obama wants to sit around a campfire with them singing kumbaiya. BTW did ya know his middle name is Hussein?

She's in rapid descent mode. Next she'll promise a pony to anybody who votes for her.

If she really wants to prove how "tough" she is, she'd point out that 6 months after boosh took office there was an attack on the US that did not fail. But somehow she doesn't seem to attack the repubs with the same fervor she goes after Obama with. Guess Bill doesn't want to piss off his new bestest butt buddy, daddy bush.

13. It is Bullshit that this was fear-mongering.
English is my native language, so let me explain to those of you who have a difficult time understanding it what Hillary said.

What she said was: 'Al Quaeda may "test" the new president by causing a terrorist attack soon after the election. After all, that's what happened soon after Gordon Brown was elected in the UK. Now, IF that happens again, do you not -- as a citizen -- want the new president to be immediately ready to handle such an event because of longer experience and better advisors -- or do you want a rookie at the controls?'

THAT is all she said. Liars in the press and among the opposition are trying to say that what she said was: 'If you don't vote for me, terrorists are going to attack you.' Buit she never said that -- and KO should be ashamed for suggesting that she did.

People who lie about Hillary (just like people who lie about Bill) are 50 times worse than anything either Clinton has EVER been provably charged with.

16. "If" Al Qaeda "tests"
the new president, and it happens to be Obama, he will handle it a whole lot better than "My Pet Goat" did.

Her implication was clear. The subtext of her statement was the same subtext that the Republicans used in 2004 - a Democrat would make things worse, might even bring about an attack because they would be emboldened.

VOte for me or you might be sorry. I didn't like it from the Republicans and I like it even less from one of our Democrats.
