legislation is needed to crackdown on annoying television commercials
I'm talking about that annoying ad for freecreditreport.com with the waiter singing that the cable channels play over and over and over again.

We need a way to put a cork on these annoying ads, perhaps by allowing citizens to vote them off the air in some way. Or maybe a V-chip to allow people to blot out annoying TV ads.

1. The Poor Guy
He doesn't live in a pleasant suburb -- he lives in the basement of his wife's mom and dad.

And he serves iced tea to tourists in t-shirts.

But, man, can he play the guitar and sing.

Maybe he should go on American Idol??

5. If that were possible, it would have happened back in the
early days of TV, the forties and fifties. No commercials today are as annoying as those were back then because it was the common wisdom that the more irritating the commercial, the better you would remember the product. I still can't get some of those awful jingles out of my mind even a half of a century later.

8. Hold on tight to your drink...
The ad for "The Coffee Generation" was pulled off the air within a week because of its claim that "Coffee helps you relax, helps slow you down."

Still stuck in my head.

11. Worst Person In The World!
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 04:50 PM by IanDB1
Keith Olbermann calls Marge Simpson “the worst person in the world.”

This aired this past Sunday, which I’m sure you missed thanks to the Patriots-Eagles game that taught everyone what the word “vulernable” means.

Anyway, Marge is awoke and scolded by Keith Olbermann, though I kind of wish it was more like his “Special Comment” feature on his show, which has the same tone my father uses when he talks to his brother on Thanksgiving.

13. I really hate a lot of things the teevee gets away with doing.
First of all, they get a GREAT DEAL of money from charging for cable & satellite. Why do they get to CONTINUE to get money to feed us programming (commercials) we don't want to see. Make the commercials another option channel. Leave the damned commercials off the regular programs. It's like double-taxation, or something equally as WRONG.

16. I'm more annoyed by the sudden sharp increases in volume
Some of these commercials go way over any acceptable volume levels just to make sure you're paying attention. One in particular comes to mind, the HughesNet commercial: smiling redhead with runaway-bride eyes - "EVER BEEN TOLD THAT BROADBAND IS TOO EXPENSIVE? DON'T BELIEVE IT!"
