The "crying" incident will win it for Hillary.
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 09:47 PM by milkyway
CNN has women 47-34 for Hillary, much different than a couple of days ago and Iowa. Seems to be a large backlash for Hillary and against the media (and Edwards) for piling on. Also Edwards tag-teaming Hillary at the debate helped her also.

If primary was a few days from now, the sympathy vote for Hillary might have died down. But with the primary the next day, it seems to have helped her a lot.

11. No, its just a reminder that things haven't changed for women
the whole incident reminded women voters that the news media and political leadership still consider women to be second class citizens, worthy of ridicule and scorn when they strive to become equals to men.

Big mistake. I'm glad it happened because some women forget and take things for granted. Reminders help.

16. Yeah, but supposedly a very large number of voters were undecided right
up to the last day. Something dramatically moved the numbers in 24 hours. Considering this was the big non-stop story all yesterday and today with the dickhead media, it appears to be the major reason.

2. there was no poll conducted after the crying incident
it was a big moment in the campaign and the fact that no poll was done to gauge the effects of it probably demonstrates why all the polls were so off. looks like it helped her

6. I was wondering
if the crying thing would rally women to her side. That's only speculation though. People vote the way they do for a lot of reasons and most of them don't make much sense.

7. I think that was the turning point for Sen. Clinton
she seemed more human and likeable and then, yes, the piling on by the media afterward helped her with women voters.

8. If that is the reason (which I doubt) that is sad
Boohoo, let's all feel so bad for a very wealthy woman that spent 8 years as First Lady of the United States and, what, going on 8 years in the Senate?

But she cried, let's vote for her! Wouldn't want to make that poor warmonger feel bad!

12. Bullshit
No one is voting for her because she cried. Let's stop the ridiculous on here. People liekd the Clintons coupled with the fact that they have a TON of cash.

22. I know, that's why I put "crying" in quotes. I'm a male Obama supporter, and I

found the media coverage of it ridiculous. With Edwards double-teaming her in the debate, followed by the vultures like Drudge whispering she's done, and topped by the overreaction to the "crying" incident, a lot of undecided Dems rallied to her. We'll see if it lasts.

And the criticisms of the past few days have reminded me how incredibly sexist and unbalanced this world is. I think women are pissed off. I am still not a Hillary fan, but I'm more of a fan now than I was a week ago. I think the coverage (in the MSM and on sites such as DU) of her getting choked up about what was apparently a very passionate subject to her (The Presidency) was simply appalling and it teetered on the revolting. I realized then that it wasn't about her being a corporatist. Obama is a corporatist. It's really about her being a female trying to assume a position we're fucking brainwashed into believing should be exclusively male.

by invading her "space" during the debate. As desperately as the r/w tried to spin it, there was a backlash.

24. The polls today said that Clinton was considered
the best suited of the Democratic candidates to be the commander in chief. Given the situation with Iran the last couple of days I suspect that was a factor in the vote.

25. I missed the debate.
Darn! I don't think the crying itself will win it for Hillary. It's the reaction to the crying that has pissed some people off and they are responding with their votes.

The omnipotent and superior analytical abilities of our MSM has once again shown itself to be the guardians of the truth and the voice of the people. NOT.

26. I agree, the media reaction to the incident was much more significant than the incident
itself, although a number of people seemed to view her more favorably because of her tearing up. It made her seem more "human," as if she really wasn't before. Whatta country.

27. No, the people will win it for Obama or Edwards
I can't fathom folks voting for Hillary just because she cried. Talk about superficial BS.

Lets hope the populous does not turn on a dime because Hil got misty eyed. When the dust settles, I doubt the nominee will be Hillary anyway - if she is, I may cry!
