What if Gore backed Edwards right now?
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 07:16 AM by deacon
This is of course a big 'what if'...but hillary has bill, obama has oprah and mccain has wilford brimley <g>... if he came out today and jumped and stumped behind Edwards for a few weeks, would it make a difference?

1. too little too late
Gore maybe would have enough influence to get John maybe 20% of the vote rather than 15% in the upcoming states. If John won Iowa and Gore jumped in with his support right after, it may have been a different story.

2. If he backed him AND
campaigned for him I think it would be a tremendous help. Hell, ex-President Bill Clinton is campaigning for Hillary Clinton, why can't ex-Vice President Gore campaign for Edwards?

4. Why would he?
We have no idea who he privately likes best. It is possible he has no preference - seeing pros and cons in all of them. NONE of them have a real long term track record on the environment - as both Gore and Kerry did. Edwards had a mediocre LCV score. All the Democrats have committed to work on global warming.

6. I don't think so, maybe if he won Iowa and got more coverage.
The media coverage has screwed him since before the primaries, sadly.

7. Overall i think the media is getting what the want. They wanted/pushed for
hillary/mccain at the very beginning, mccain imploded and giuliani became the next sensation with most all pundits guaranteeing hillary/giuliani, giuliani imploded and we are back to their original prediction, at least at this point of the circus.

8. He would get 16% in the rest of the states instead of 15%.
And I say this as someone who would love Edwards to win.
