So people stop calling them the Nev-AH-da cauceses.

It's Nev-a-da, is in Nev-bad-a.

And BTW, it's not Ore-GONE.

It's Or-uh-gun

Why so much trouble with this people?

Carry on.

When I was growing up there, everybody said ColoRADo (as in "rad, dude") and now I hear ColoRAHDo all the time.

Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 01:37 PM by AlertLurker
Half of you can't pronounce your own friggin' place names!!! Your spelling is piss-poor, too.

Try it with me:

Pronounce Notre Dame, Illinois, Detroit and Celtic...

Get the picture?

Colour has a U. Neighbour does too.

"Z" is pronounced "ZED," in case you've forgotten...

and for the love of GOD, people - it's ALUMIN-I-UM!!! Just like uranIUM, polonIUM, cesIUM, rubidIUM, calcIUM and magnesIUM!!!

Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 01:57 PM by AlertLurker
Trust me. You have to live here to get the joke...it has driven me friggin' NUTS for 30 YEARS!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Place_to_Stand,_A_Place_to_Grow

Give us a place to stand

And a place to grow
And call this land Ontario
A place to live.
For you and me
With hopes as high
As the tallest tree
Give us a land of lakes
and a land of snow
And we will build Ontario
A place to stand, a place to grow
Ontari-ari-ari-o !

From western hills,
To northern shores.
To Niagara Falls,
Where the waters roar.
Give us a land of peace,
Where the free winds blow.
And we will build Ontario
A place to stand, a place to grow
Ontari-ari-ari-o !

26. Language changes, over time
I remember when Iowa used to be jeh-HOSS-o-fath.

Of course, that was before they shortened all the words by a syllable. SOmething to do with beating Kaiser Bill. I never understood just what, but it worked and that was good enough for us!
