THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY
The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free.

There is a problem with this list. Starting on 01/01/2008 @ 10:49 AM I have been getting 6 to 8 calls a day from 888-748-4956. They never leave a message and there was no one there if I answered. I have disconnected my answer machine, hoping they would give up. But no. I think it is a machine calling.
I tried to register a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry, but it would not accept the complaint because the number in question was registered on December 15, 2007 and is has not been 31 days yet. I have at least 5 more days left of this harassment. I have been registered since August 04, 2007, so that is not the problem.
All these assholes have to do is change to a new phone number every 30 days or so and continue their harassment with impunity.
And they are trying to get things setup so they can call your cell phones also for both text messages and voice ads. It they can start that, it would make my phone all but useless as I would just turn it off at work and forget to turn it back on.
