the DU, sexism, racism, bigotry all made it to TV...
ALL of us, and all of it in 40 minutes of TV!

The wife brought home the DVD of the first year of WKRP, Cincinatti. I always loved that damned show. So we sat down, put it on and in just the Pilot(2 episodes) it had covered all those issues, and more. With humor(leg-slapping jaw aching humor) it handled them with the deepest understanding possible. Oh yeah, where does DU come in? The Du had a sit-in at the station.

Honest, if you will rent that disc I swear if you don't agree I will pay for the damned rental fees!

I had forgotten, in the virulent, hateful environment created in this country of the past 20 years, that long ago intelligence, wit and humor dealt with problems and made strides, lasting strides. Kiddy Army I ask you especially to rent that disc, so that you will maybe get some inkling at why some of us oldsters are so cranky with you.

I no NetFlix has I presume others as well.

Don't feel bad. I've seen it mangled every which way.

:)

And yes, between the rise of Rushbo and the demise of basic manners - it did a lot to absolutely ruin the political discourse in this country.

3. I'm old enough to remember it, thanks for reminding me. Spending less and less time
on DU (except for the civil discussion groups) and trying to get out and actually do something also helps! If nothing else, DU will drive a lot of us out to the streets :-)

low blows, but it was very good. The Thanksgiving Promotion Turkey Giveaway as mentioned above is one of the great classic lines that set up a fantastic mental image!

Another thing that stands out in my memory, was an episode where Venus Flytrap is helping a kid, and Johnny Fever rises up from the couch at the the end of the scene and quietly asks him "How long have you been a teacher?", to which Venus goes into a short story of why he quit teaching...very insightful.

Les Nessman: "What's an executrix?"
Herb Tarlek: "Oh, it has to do with whips, chains and leather. That type of thing."
