Bush's MESSIAH Complex
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 07:49 AM by RubADubDubya

Bush's Messiah Complex
By Dan Froomkin
January 2008
The Washington Post

With time running short on his presidency -- and on the eve of a trip to the Middle East -- President Bush seems to have overcome his aversion to talking about his legacy and is now speaking fervently about how he expects to be remembered.

As it turns out, the president sees himself as quite the heroic figure.

"I can predict that the historians will say that George W. Bush recognized the threats of the 21st century, clearly defined them, and had great faith in the capacity of liberty to transform hopelessness to hope, and laid the foundation for peace by making some awfully difficult decisions," Bush told Yonit Levi of Israel's Channel 2 News. Bush held several interviews with Middle Eastern journalists last week in anticipation of his trip to the region, which starts tomorrow.

"When he needed to be tough, he acted strong, and when he needed to have vision he understood the power of freedom to be transformative," Bush said of himself to Nahum Barnea and Shimon Shiffer of the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot.

3. K & R. OMG, the entire articles is mind boggling. Worst among much bad out of Bush's mouth, is
that he plans to "get a lot done" in the last year of his presidency.

5. The man is delusional. His "legacy" will mirror his life...
complete and utter failure at everything he has attempted.

He failed in his scholastic endeavors, (given a "Gentleman's C", simply because he was a "legacy" student, and the money donated guaranteed "passing grades"), complete failure as a businessman, a failure as Governor of TX, (took the state to near bankruptcy), and his presidency has been a complete disaster since the first inauguration.

Rarely in history has a nation been so poorly served, the disasters of the Roman Emperors come to mind when thinking of bush's "legacy". The errors this man has made have put us on the brink of being a nation of the past as opposed to a nation of the future. He has extinguished the Lamp of Liberty, has nearly bankrupted the nation, come close to taking us back to era of Robber Barons, started an unjust and illegal war, and never even came close to catching Osama bin-Laden. Corruption has become overt and the norm.

The failures of this administration are so obvious, it is an embarrassment to even think of them.

His "legacy" resembles dog crap.

14. the embarrassment is ours, the American people, we voted him in twice.
for the Kiddy Army the use of 'we' simply denotes the citizens of the USA. The ones who didn't vote for him in 2004 are as culpable as the ones who did for not rising up and marching on Washington and demanding Congress impeach. Standing by is a rather 'Germanic' trait we have.

16. I blame the whole nation, particularly for falling for the claptrap
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 02:21 PM by rasputin1952
these people foisted on the American people. But most of th blame goes to those who saw anything that even resembled what most would call a "redeeming quality", he has none. He is a sociopath, a very sick person that should never have been considered for any type of public service.

While I am not a Clinical Psychologist, one need not be to come to the conclusion that this man is batshit crazy. I would hate to have to crawl into the sewer that is his mind.

17. actually, the whole nation didn't fall for it
More people voted for Gore than for Bush. We elected Al Gore.

It was the Supreme Court that foisted Bush on us.

19. maybe
but more people DID NOT vote for Gore when you add the 40% or so who did not bother to vote at all.

Peace

22. After eight years of Bu$hit
You would think the other 40% would finally be motivated to vote. (We've already seen huge turnouts in Iowa and New Hampshire.)

23. I'm really hoping the turnout is huge...
For all of the talk about democracy, freedom, patriotism and the like...our voting statistics fall far behind almost every other nation that holds elections. To be honest, I'm actually amazed that we have survived as a Republic as long as we have!

24. And it was the people of this Republic that allowed them to get
away with it...there lies the problem.

Each time we allow a small group to endanger one of the greatest privileges ever given to man, we lose just a little more in the Rights, Liberties and Freedom arena. When the USSC sent it back to FL and Harris, we, as a nation, should have stood up and said, Enough". But we didn't, we allowed a small group to dictate to us what was to be. And we have suffered for it ever since.
