Bush's Keynote address live on BBC & CNN right now
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 06:53 AM by malaise
He's being introduced. Interesting that it's nowhere on MSM.

My bad - CNN is carrying it.

7. A good actor
is the only one in the room aware that they are merely playing a role. In this case, only George is unaware that he is merely acting like he believes in democracy.

10. I can't help but
thinking that on some unconscious level, Bush recognizes that he has not only failed, but has reached the status of one of the most dismal of failures .... hence, he projects that outward, and feels compelled to try to self-correct by attempting some delusional peace process. As if he has any moral authority to talk the way he is this morning!

I think he is a fugging delusional lunatic. The crusade theme was very present. If you have BBC listen to the post speech discussion.
The first words were nothing new here.

13. The BBC analyst says the average person in the ME will wonder how
someone engaged in such a militaristic agenda in Afghanistan and Iraq can be trying to convince them about freedom and democracy.

:hi: The democracy message does not go down well in the ME says the BBC analyst - not after they rejected the results of the Palestinian election.

15. I suspect that
he only reinforced the hatred that people feel for the Cheney policies in the Middle East. I can not imagine that a single person has had their minds changed, and now think Bush is an agent of positive change.

23. This visit has NOTHING to do with peace and EVERYTHING to do
with an attack on Iran. He has just been zipping around, picking teams and prodding Iran.

22. Look at how the Arab media see his visit.
"The dominant narrative, the dominant frame in the Arab media, is still about the huge gap between what the president says and what's actually happening on the ground," Lynch said. "And so you get much more coverage in the Arab media of the expansion of settlement, and a lot more coverage of the Hamas/Fatah ongoing political standoff."

This is all in addition to the major player's in the region saying his peace-dream is a pipe-dream. Who does he think he's fooling. Yet, he's going back in May for more photos.

24. Thanks for that
The reaction is quite rational. How the fuck do you talk about freedom, justice and peace when you invade and occupy a country illegally and are responsible for over a million deaths? Meanwhile you've dying to attack another country and using the language of crusaders.
