Radical Christian Activist/Terrorist to face trial for trying to blow up a church
One of the three self-described radical Christian activists arrested for attempting to ignite a bomb at a Burleson church in July is scheduled to stand trial Jan. 22 in Dallas. The other two pleaded guilty Dec. 4.

Dayton Lee Calaway, 19, of Burleson — part of a group that opposes organized religion and government — will stand trial in District Judge Sam A. Lindsay’s U.S. district court. He faces a federal charge of possession of an unregistered firearm categorized as a destructive device, which in this case was a Molotov cocktail.

Calaway, Michael Philip Plaisted Jr., 18, and Jered Michael Ragon, 18, both of Burleson, were indicted July 25. Plaisted and Ragon faced the same charge.

Plaisted and Ragon pleaded guilty in the same court Dec. 4 and are scheduled for sentencing March 17. All three face 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

2. you might want to go back and change your thread title
it's just a wee bit misleading

people who follow Jesus' teaching of loving one's neighbors aren't going to blow up churches

this guy is as much a Christian as I am a cat

3. I know that average Muslims are peaceful people
And they may get that sense of peace from their religion.

However, I am not going to say that Muslims who are terrorists are not Muslims.

So, the same will go for Christians or adherents of any other religion for that matter.

4. The story claims they are "self-described radical Christians"
From reading the story, they appear to be hapless teenage anarchists. One of them managed to set himself on fire.

<snip>
Police said Ragon, who was wearing sandals, doused the evidence with gasoline but did not realize he was still standing in the gasoline puddle when he lit the fire, which caused his shoes to ignite, according to reports.

Yes, they should be tried and convicted as terrorists, but they're also laughable. They're "part of a group that opposes organized religion and government" -- a "group" being the beginnings of an organization. Great getaway attempt, too... getting stuck in the mud. :eyes:

What they are is wannabe anarchists -- and idiots, as well.

At least one of them probably deserves a Darwin award: "Police later determined that Ragon was trying to destroy evidence of the making of the bomb. Police said Ragon, who was wearing sandals, doused the evidence with gasoline but did not realize he was still standing in the gasoline puddle when he lit the fire, which caused his shoes to ignite...." What a genius! :D

Thank goodness they were spotted and caught, and no one was injured. Beyond that, they're as laughable as the "terrorist group" known as the _"Miami 7"_.
