House Dems to Finally Vote on Contempt for White House Officials
By Paul Kiel - January 14, 2008, 12:47PM

From The Washington Post:

In its first couple of weeks after it returns tomorrow, the House is likely to take up contempt-of-Congress resolutions against White House Chief of Staff Joshua B. Bolten and former White House counsel Harriet E. Miers for their refusal to appear before Congress for questioning about the 2006 removal of nine U.S. attorneys, Democratic leadership aides said.

For those keeping track at home, it's been nearly six months since the House Judiciary Committee initially approved the contempt citations. As for what the timing might be on the Senate side, where the Senate Judiciary Committee recently approved contempt citations for Karl Rove and Bolten, it's not yet clear.

1. That's what they said in August...
"We'll vote after the August recess." September came--No vote. Then we were told: "We have to brief all the members about the vote---we'll get it done in October. October came. October went. No vote.

Then November---still no vote. Then December---no vote. Now we are being told it will LIKELY happen in the first two weeks after returning from the holiday recess. LIKELY story.

I'll believe it when I see it.

And, even if it does finally happen, I'll bet the farm that neither the House nor the Senate will vote on INHERENT contempt charges.

I'm not getting my hopes up again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

3. I know, I'm discouraged also. But look at it this way;
one day they'll actually do something we can be proud of. "I" have to believe that because the alternate party offers me nothing and makes no bones about it.

2. "... House is likely to take up contempt-of-Congress resolutions..."
LIKELY?

Time to make calls and remind them who they (are supposed to) work for and what year this is.

4. Rather than hold my breath, I think I'll just cross my fingers this time...
so as to not risk dying for lack of air, waiting for the Congressional Dems to start fixing what is so
dismally broken in America: i.e. the rule of law as it applies to the Bushies.
