Report: China may block Citigroup sale:
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 02:42 PM by EV_Ares
Tell me that the foreign countries these companies like Citigroup & Merrill, etc are going to for finnancial assistance to bail them out of the sub-rime crisis want no say in the business which they are telling us. Sure, they are just giving them billions of dollars out of the goodness of their heart.
--------

HONG KONG

Opposition from the Chinese government may stop Citigroup Inc.'s plan to raise capital by selling a stake worth $2 billion (1.3 billion euros) to a Chinese bank, the Wall Street Journal reported on its Web site Monday.

The cash-strapped Citigroup, hurt by the mortgage crisis that boiled up last year, has been seeking foreign investors, including China Development Bank, to boost its balance sheet in the face of mounting write-offs.

The Journal reported that opposition from the Chinese government seems to have surfaced over the weekend, citing an unnamed person familiar with the situation. It is not clear whether the deal has been abandoned, the newspaper said.

Yang Hua, director of China Development Bank's news department, said she was not aware of any plans for China Development Bank to invest in Citigroup or any government opposition to such investment, according to the paper.

A telephone call by The Associated Press to the bank rang unanswered after business hours, and in New York, Citigroup spokeswoman Shannon Bell declined to comment.

4. Everyone is picking at the carcass-
now. The White House has opened a division in the State Department for selling off our wealth. Spain our highways. Brits our oil, minerals, gold, energy sector, etc. Canada our timber in the National Parks our railroads, etc. Guess the few elite get a kickback in an off-shore British bank.

America SOLD.

2. Now that the Empire has power and (our wealth) it moves for Africa
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 03:01 PM by mac2
This morning on the radio (Chicago WGN) they stated that China feels compelled to interfere in Africa because "democracy" is destroying it.

When you think about it neither China nor Africa have much to brag about. Why is that? Because neither leaders represent their constituents...even kill some of them for protesting etc. Wars and genocide has left Africa in shambles with death in every village. Large numbers of displaced people wonder into nearby countries seeking food, shelter, and water.

How could they have any system (Communist, Democracy, King, Dictator, etc.) no matter what it is called work. Africa and China have leaders who are tyrannical, corrupted, and murderous for their people.

To have a country full of happy, successful, and peaceful constituents they must have a say in their own future. Who has that today in the world? Very few including the Untied States of America. President GW Bush has corrupted or given those leaders permission to do things which serves the interest of the few instead of the many (the many who pay and work for the wealth).

Time to take away their "most favored trade status" since they move against democracy (and us). They haven't been honest regarding copyrights, patents, legal rights, value of their dollar, steal or buy or military secrets, spy on us, etc. They are not moving toward democracy as promised since Nixon's open door policy but against it. Does that surpise me? No I was against it from the start.

5. China is now calling Africa's dictatorships "democracy" ? but
the entire truth is, junior may have accelerated the downfall of democracy locally, but it is more his father's and grandfathers colleauges and the CIA who are responsible for supporting not democracy around the world, but dictators around the world since the 1950's. That has been the U.S's foreign policy.

Please, when discussing Africa, remember that it is a continent, and not a country.

There are also cities in Africa, not just villages.

14. Africa is a Continent
with many countries who are under attack by the various Empires...China, US, France, Britain, etc. I'm not just talking about a village or a city.

There is also an African Union which has been formed regardless of the various countries and their citizens.

China wants all of Africa (with it's various countries) to rescue it from...democracy. It's an excuse to take over. I agree there is very little democracy but many dictatorships.

I know geography.

20. Axis of Evil
I hate to reply to my own post but I found more interesting articles related to the same topic...Africa.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/kenya/story/0,,2240605,00.html

Same old Axis of Evil: US, Britain, and Israel. They are killing people in Kenya. Will they be used against us?

http://washingtontimes.com/article/20070831/ENTERTAINMENT/108310032/1007 The Brits don't like Arab books and burn them. Where have we heard this before?

http://www.nwaonline.net/articles/2007/12/11/news/121207lrreporterarrest1st.txt Arrest the truth tellers?

How many jounalists have been murdered or had "accidents" since the conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan started? The press is murdered for telling the truth. Sounds pretty much like Fascism to me. I have no doubt this is happening all over the world.

And, how we wanted to liberate them to be good free marketers.

Mission Accomplished! Now they have a government of ruthless CEOs just like we do in Washington.

6. Any international corporation (previous American) CEO
who has moved manufacturing, etc. to China previously or today should not be allowed to live here safe and our backs. Go live the "good life" in China. Your workers and community you deserted deserve better.

They are criminals.

11. And...life time bonus, pensions, and their own vacation homes
..at least three...and their own jets. They are thugs who our government allowed to steal from us everyday. They live better than any kings or plantation owners. They don't go to battle or have to answer to anyone...manufacture in squalor...or sell or reap, etc.

13. Citi bank directors and CEOs were involved in the housing
load frauds. They should be in jail.

Has someone mentioned prior the problems with Citi-bank (headquartered probably in London), they should have been monitored by RICO and the Banking Commission. How many bank transfers of our wealth do they steal from us?

Bush wonders around taking about his favorite subject Iran and all the countries who wants to "protect". He certainly isn't protecting us financially but robs us by looking the other way from contractors and bankers. Hey Georgie we are under attack in every sector of our government...the crooks are inside and robbing us.

Our debt leaves the walls of security and our future open to our enemies.

Impeach and jail he and his gang.

They NEVER call it what it IS.. White collar crime, of the highest magnitude.. It's not surprising when we delve into the legislation, and notice that the banks have been ever so "helpful" in writing the legislation that provides the loopholes that make this shit LEGAL...

We always act shocked & surprised every time they do it to us, and yet it's always predictable.. I have NO financial training, and I saw it coming.

All these MBAs & financial wizards fleece us every 15 years or so, and we always come back for more.. We fill up the piggy banks and they figure out how to distract us so they can break open the banks once it's full enough for them to care..

The NEXT "oopsie"....401-ks.. COUNT ON IT !

18. Cheney wanted our bank account information
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 05:07 PM by mac2
so he could find "terrorists". I believe it is to rob us to pay for their debt.

Can't you just see him taking all the account numbers and transferring them to off shore banks? The IRS has a record of banks accounts so what was his excuse to do it?

The old Communist (warrior crooks) countries did it to their citizens. I worked with a PHD. who came to America to do some research. She said, they depleted her bank account twice.

You don't need a college degree to see they are robbing us.

Senior Americans don't know that the Social Security "lock box funds for the baby boomers" was robbed by Greenspan. The media covered for him. It wasn't just a pay as you go program. We paid extra money (took it out of our checks) so when the baby boomers retired there would be enough. She was sure they won't dare stop her checks. Ya..like that's the real world!!

10. The Chinese looked at Citigroup and thought they were being sold a sack of shit, so they said no.
If the shit hits the fan, it's not going to do so with the Chinese holding the bag but the corrupt fools at Citigroup itself as far as this particular 2 billion dollars worth of assets go.

16. Yes...transfer money so they can't trace it
is the name of the game today. Transfer it to the Cayman Islands, China, etc. Financial "experts" told Congress in hearings that's the way it is done today. Did the Congress do anything? Not that I know of.

We need to bring back banking laws and regulations pre-Reagan. The robbers are bankrupting and stealing us blind. They could disrupt the whole financial world not just American Savings & Loans like under x-President Bush. They've expanded their gang to world banking now.

Why isn't RICO on top of this? The banking monopolies are moving money around and stealing it. Oh..yes lay off the Federal Civil Service employees who know what they are doing. Smaller government to steal.
