Onslow County sherrif's office denied CNN article and hung up on me...

He claimed I didn't know all the facts of the case. I told him that his office released this information and that I was looking at it...

I even read off direct statements which he couldn't deny. I offered to email the link and I told him about the interview the sheriff gave on TV. The person I spoke with said I could talk to Ed Brown's office. I said fine...and he hung up on me.

1. All I can say is

Her stepmom sounds like a piece of work. I'm not sure how this girl could have been a marine what with all the compusive lying and all, but the 'mom' looks really shitty in this one. Given the number of service related rapes going on, I'm more inclined to trust Lauderbach the younger over her 'stepmom' who seriously seems to have issues. Especially now that her testimony has fatally delayed any investigation of the girl's disappearence. Poor girl probably joined up to get the hell away from that harpy. And where is the marine's dad in this? Does he too believe that his daughter is a compulsive liar?

2. Her uncle came out and said she was not a compulsive liar...

Even still it was the sheriff who released this and it was the sheriff who painted Maria Lauterbach as one who lied about being raped and who ran off after being caught at it.

The article I mentioned indicated they never even talked to the suspect before her body was found. He wasn't even on the radar until after they found her burned body.

I'm just very upset at how this girl has been done by the sheriff and no one's called him on it at all. IMO, it's sexism at its finest.
