Why the M$M wants an Edwards win in Nevada.
Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 11:26 AM by IdesOfOctober
It's simple: think of all the deeply poignant lines they can write about how he came to Vegas, down on his luck, and ended up in the high roller's suite, with Obama and Clinton bunked up at Motel 8.

Can we please take up a DU collection before NV and buy Chris Matthews a Miracle Ear? I swear to Holy Winifred, I cannot take another round of him talking over KO.

3. Well It's not well publicized but the Edwards
campaign has struck a deal with the Roxxon corporation to develop a time travel machine.

I am in favor of Edwards doing well though - maybe in South Carolina?

6. They want the story. Same as they wanted the "Mac is back" McCain win in NH.
So now Edwards' "comeback" is going to be the new feel-good narrative, plus it keeps the race from being settled, which is always good for business.

14. LOL! Bloomberg was a lifelong Dem before running for Mayor, and
is an unabashed social liberal, a pro-environment guy, and a fiscal conservative who is willing to raise taxes and impose regulations when needed. I don't see him and Rudy as cut from the same cloth. Not saying I'd necessarily vote for him--I'd have to see how he campaigns.

19. That's your right, of course.
I wasn't serious about the "hide" thing, as I hope was clear. But I still say Bloomberg doesn't have enough appeal in either party to be anything but a spoiler, and I'd rather see a spoiler who's more sure to split the right--like Ron Paul or a Dobson-sponsored fundie candidate.

22. I think he'd do more damage to Repubs than Dems--early polls showed that.
The GOP is in such disarray, and the Dems are so happy with their choices overall, that I don't think Bloomberg's candidacy would hurt us.

23. I think you're right--although you yourself would indicate otherwise.
Still, Bloomberg doesn't offer the GOP anything the candidates they are already underwhelmed with don't--not anything they like, anyway. He's even less of a social conservative than McCain or Guiliani, No more of a fiscal conservative than Romney or Thompson...and he's Jewish--even less Christian than the Mormon!

So my inital question--who is going to vote for this guy?--still stands. Aside from you, of course.

24. Well, I can't say I'd vote for him, just that I'd consider him, depending
on how he runs. But if moderate Repubs (those who don't worship at the Altar of the Holy Fetus and don't care very much about the personal lives of gay people) are looking for competence and fiscal know-how during a recession, I can see where they might take a look at Bloomberg. Huckabee would send rational moderates and fiscal conservatives to Bloomberg, certainly. Not sure he can win, though.

25. True--Huckabee as GOP nominee and Bloomberg as independent
could rip the party right in half. We can only hope--and pray...

13. Why need a win for prose like that?
If he loses:
He came to Vegas, down on his luck, seemed to start winning at the tables, almost crapped out, but took a big gamble and ended up in the high roller's suite with a couple of strippers who put roofies into his victory champagne then left him in a bathtub of ice with a note to call 9/11 after removing his kidneys to sell on the black market.

15. I'm getting more and more cynical.
I would bet they would push for an Edwards win in Nevada so they could say "See!! We don't have problems with anti-corporate candidates!!"
