NH Recount First Day: Disparities Found, Memory Cards Unaccounted For [BradBlog]
NH CONTEST: DIEBOLD MISCOUNTS REPORTED ACROSS MANY CANDIDATES, WARDS, IN FIRST DAY OF ELECTION CONTEST HAND COUNTS

Also: Diebold Memory Cards Unaccounted For; Public Record Request by Election Integrity Advocates on Ground Reveal 550+ Votes Read as Blank by Op-Scanner in Stratham...

Blogged by Brad Friedman from on the road..
(As mentioned in previous items, I'm now on the road, and doing my best to keep up while moving. So apologies for the terse reports for the moments, as I continue to roll and have limited time online.)

LATEST OUT OF NH: Disparities being found during hand-counts of ballots, in many wards, many candidates. Diebold op-scan memory cards unaccounted for at the moment, SoS doesn't track them after elections, doesn't track error reports during elections. LHS Associates handles all of it instead, according to reports on the ground. Public records request reveals hundreds of ballots in one area scanned as blank due to incorrect ink used on ballots, and other problems on LHS problem report forms.

FULL DETAILS, COUNT DISPARITIES, PROBLEM REPORTS,
QUOTES FROM SOURCES ON THE GROUND etc.

1. I knew there would be some surprises
since the group of 31 in one town who voted for Paul as a unit and later found no votes for Paul had been recorded in that town were a giveaway that there was considerable vote diddling going on.

It will be interesting to see who the final count goes to. I don't expect to hear much of anything before Friday, at the earliest.

5. I dunno... if I were about to be "found out" I'd throw a fit...
a la Bush v. Gore (2000).

6. That's not quite fair
Just because Hillary has suffered most from undercounting so far (contrary to wide DU opinion) is no reason to suspect anyone of anything. Besides, the count only recently started.

10. Actually I meant that exact point... I don't think they'll find what they're looking for.

7. What should she be protesting?
It looks like she actually picked a few votes in that recount.
Anyhow, so far the posted recount votes look similar to what it was before the recount, even if they are not exactly the same in some cases.

3. Recount results posted by the SoS of NH
http://www.sos.nh.gov/recountresults.htm

The results are not very different from the first counts, but the recount has only just started. Manchester in Hillsborough county is the only place with released data.

8. And in almost every case
the Democratic frontrunners got MORE votes in the recount than were originally recorded.

9. those could be
the districts that originally counted by hand count. we would expect those to be close but not exact, which is what that webpage shows.

the sheet doesn't say anything about the numbers - were those the opscan or hand counted ballots?

until we know the recount numbers include opscan precincts, we can't be sure what we're looking at.

11. I *think* Manchester is OpScan
Kucinich requested that the recounts start in the urban ares where optical scanners are more frequently used. And, of course, the recount is only in its first hours.

The entire recount (or as much of it is funded) will be a good test of the election auditing system in NH.

No matter what the results are, I think we should still press on with trying to get a "verifiable ballot receipt" system to allow a full audit. That's the only thing that will remove all doubt.
