Murdoch 'Doesn't Control' The Sun
http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91248-1301077,00.html

Rupert Murdoch does not attempt to influence stories appearing in The Sun or the paper's political stance on a day-to-day basis, the tabloid's editor has said.

Editor Rebekah Wade told MPs Mr Murdoch did have leverage on the paper's long-term direction.

But she said this was part of a "consensus" decision-making process with her and other senior journalists and executives at The Sun.

1. he doesn't have to
any editor who wants to keep his/her job knows fine well to sink certain stories. There's no need for him to dictate when his underlings are so intune with his interests

Yeah right. Murdoch took control of the WSJ recently
and today they have a story entitled
Liberal Hatemongers

As bad as the WSJ was before Murdoch, the paper never sunk this low.

2. All that means is that Rupert has got the Sun staff so...
...cowed that he doesn't have to micromanage them. They know what the boss wants, and what the boss wants, he gets. Or else.
