Georgia tax plan for schools

My state rep(local) once again proves to be a typical republican. He is proposing a plan to eliminate all property taxes(especially to businesses) and replace it with a sales tax for schools. We used to tax food here and this would probably reinstate that tax. It would also take local control out of the hands of local boards for funding. Last but not least a sales tax is without a doubt the most regressive tax. Why do republicans exist?

1. The neo-cons are NOT conservatives. They are BIG GOVERNMENT.

You really hit the nail on the head - the goal is to take the power out of the hands of local communities to fund and run their schools.
