If you want to hear the chilling emergency warning sounds
the British Airways pilots were hearing in the cockpit (if indeed their avionics were working properly)----------> (listen at :45) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9olnaG0F70

These provide warnings and verbal resolution instructions through the ICAS (Indication and Crew Alerting System).

There are two notable systems which today are normally found in most commercial and military aircraft, the TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System) and TAWS/EGPWS (Terrain Avoidance Warning System / Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System).

**Good job men** And good job to the flight attendants! :bounce:

A British Airways jet that crash-landed at Heathrow was being controlled by the co-pilot, it has been revealed.

Captain Peter Burkill, 43, told a press conference Senior First Officer John Coward brought the plane in to land on Thursday afternoon.

An initial report in to the crash has shown the engines "did not respond" to a demand for increased thrust as the plane came in to land.

All 136 passengers and 16 crew survived the incident.

6. Any landing the passengers walk away from is... hmmm...a landing.
I'm simply glad that the innocent were spared. A few seconds or a couple tens of feet of elevation or a few tens of kph of speed lower could have made this very much worse.
