Poll question: "The Era of Big Government is Over." Who Said That?
Edited on Sat Jan-19-08 12:18 AM by David Zephyr
The Republicans had been victorious at the polls stunning many people.

And then came those famous words declaring "the era of big government is over!"

Conservatives across the land cheered because the white flag of liberalism had been raised.

Who made that bold declaration?

Al Gore lead the charge. Government can still help the people without being a ponderous bureacracy.

2. It's been noted here many times who said that in 2006.

Here is a link for anyone who would like the CONTEXT of that statement (which was about getting the deficit under control, which he did): LINK

The surplus was destroyed by George W. Bush.

3. Ronnie baby said:
Government is not the answer to our problems, government IS the problem. Yet he tippled the size of the military defense... More Repuke hypocritical Bull$hit! Go figure.

But the again JFK said, "ask not what your country (meaning government) can do for you ask what you can do for your country."

And IMHO JFK > Clinton 1 and 2 + Carter + Obama + Edwards + Kerry + Dean. So somewhere in there there may be some truth to smaller government!!!

Just something to think about.

5. Augusto Pinochet
as he pushed a socialist out of a helicopter to his death in the ocean.

Financially supported by the US government, and ideologically supported by Milton Friedman and th rest of the Chicago School economists
