trickled-on again...short term quick-fix that doesn't

the only thing this "fixes" or "stimulates" is a politician's approval numbers. It's short term, no real lasting effect to promote and maintain a healthy economy that benefits all of us.

what we need are ideas/proposals that are of a long-term benefit..

I've been yammering about this for 7 years - a major project to address fuel, global warming etc would help the economy. The naysayers cry that the technology isn't there - well we didn't have the technology to put a man on the moon when JFK set the goal.

and what was the result of the Apollo project? Not only did we put a man on the moon, but the research and technologies developed along the way has trickled down to all of us in one fashion or another. Computers, medical advances, satellites, household products, JOBS created that didn't even exist before. How many computer programmers were there in the 1960's? How many IT professionals? how many satellite TV installers and manufactures? these jobs wouldn't even exit if we did not have the Apollo project.

if we put our mind to it we may even be able to develop alternatives to the combustible engine - come up with a whole new kind of technology for our engines. the possibilities are limitless, and the benefits even more.

to use an historical parallel - when automobiles were first introduced, the horse-buggy related businesses were all but eliminated. As people bought automobiles - there was no need to buy a buggy, horse whip, harnesses etc. these businesses were replaced by carlots, mechanics, part manucaturers, and automoblie manufacturers etc. - this also gave way to gas stations, and road construction. All of which helped to create NEW JOBS and more jobs.

If today's republican attitude towards the buggy vs automobile had been applied then - there would be no automobiles, because the republicans would be screaming how the buggy jobs would be lost and funding would go to prop-up and bailout Buggys-R-Us.

until he leaves office. He will continue to screw up the entire time.

if you have a store with the shelves loaded with product, but people don't have the money - they won't buy so you don't sell the product.

if you don't sell product, you don't order more product which means the manufacturer doesn't keep making more product, but to stay in business the manufacturer lays off workers which means the workers don't have the money to by any product...

an economy is not a top-down model, nor is it a down-up model where money flows up or down. Money flows in a level circular plane, and if there's a blockage at any point - money stops flowing and the economy grinds to a halt
