So. Carolina DUer's....
What percentage of So. Carolina voters are Independents, and can they vote in your primaries? (I think this has alot to do with the accuracy of various polls, so I'm curious).:hi:

1. Snow in South Carolina!
It is raining over all of South Caroline now.

A large part of the state will get about 1” of snow this afternoon in a “wintery mix” forecast.

Wonder how that will affect turnout? I bet the casual supporters stay home and the passionate supporters turn out.

2. I know it's only the Republican Primary, but...

I think any primary is exciting. I'm especially anxious to see how the contest between Mitt and Huckleberry turns out.

5. I worry about the South and the evangelical vote....
I wish we knew more about the percentages of evangelical voters in every southern state. I'm not crazy about their philosophy, but you have to admit they turn out in huge numbers on election day.

3. Zogby was talking about this on Washington Journal this morning.
It was pretty early, let me see if I can remember what he said.

I think he said anyone can vote in the Thug primary but if you do, you can't vote in the Dem primary next week.

He may also have said that maybe a third of Indies and under 10% of Democrats may be expected to vote in this primary. The weather isn't great and people see the Democratic contest as more exciting.

6. correct

Weather in the Upstate not so bad now, just a little drizzle. About 8 cars at my polling place at 7 AM. I expect Huck to win and McCain to be pretty disappointed. The weather favors Huck, there's not much enthusiasm for the other candidates.

The media, as usual, is portraying the Huckster's support as purely religious based, but that is not how I see it. There is good response to the populists aspect of Huck, a lot of people are hurting here and contray to what is often expressed around here these folks are not rank and file theocrats. There is of course some of that but I'd say that most might be better described as traditionalists. The bread and butter issues are part of his appeal, particularly as compared to the rest of the repub field.
