"Confederate Flag Ad Praises Huckabee"
Confederate Flag Ad Praises Huckabee
By JIM KUHNHENN, AP

WASHINGTON — A group that promotes protection of the Confederate flag is airing radio ads during conservative talk shows in South Carolina that praise Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and criticize John McCain and Mitt Romney for voicing objections to the flag.

The ads are paid for by Americans for the Preservation of American Culture, a Tennessee-based political organization that has been in existence since 2001, according to Federal Election Commission records. The ads began airing just three days before Saturday's Republican primary in the state.

"Waving a confederate battle flag in front of Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney turns out to be like waving a red flag in front of a bull — he charges," the ad states. "Romney let fly in the CNN debate, saying, "That flag shouldn't be shown,' and 'that's not a flag I recognize.'"

In its anti-McCain ad, an announcer states: "Mitt Romney is trying, but when it comes to bashing the Confederate flag he can't hold a candle to John McCain. McCain's been doing it — calling the flag a racist symbol — for years."<snip>

2. Gotta Love South Carolina
The dirty ops are running amok and fortunately it's almost all on the GOOP side. It's schadenfraude to watch the cogs of this machine grind on each other and expose its dirty side for all to see.

This is a taste of what's coming our way...not just on the Presidential level, but in every Congressional race as these caged animals will get desperate to win and will do or say anything to do it. They're out with the codewords and have the wedge issues in place...and the Huckster knows the more he uses these words the higher his poll numbers go. He's pulled shit like this repeatedly in recent months and it's worked for him...he knows he'll get all sorts of corporate media attention and in the process the codewords get spread around and amplified.

The Huckster's game here is to flank all the other candidates with fundies and the bigots...a large voting base in Southern, Midwest and Mountain West states. If he wins in South Carolina, the Huckster's well positioned for Florida and his own Southern strategy could be enough to split the differnce between Romeney and McCain. The more he codetalks, the more viable this strategy looks.
