Happy LEE-JACKSON-KING weekend!!!
Almost forgot my annual posting on this

Yes here in Virginia the state offices were closed yesterday and will be again on Monday. See back when everyone was finally honoring the man and movement to basically put in writing that we are all actually human beings and share the same basic rights and concerns the state of Virginia passed a state holiday for the good Reverend.

HOLD IT! WAIT A MINUTE! said the old guard around here. He wasn't even from THE COMMONWEALTH (lots of harrumphs were heard following this), see we only should have state holidays to honor VIRGINIANS!! like Presidents Day honoring George Washington and...uh Lincoln okay ignore that part but anyway uh what about native sons LEE and STONEWALL JACKSON!!!! (note-Jackson's birth site is now in WEST Virginia)

:eyes:

So they couldn't let Dr.King have a day so now (this was in Gov. Gilmore's horrific time as governor) we have TWO DAYS OFF!!! well at least the state employees do.

1. I wondered where your post on this was yesterday
I thought perhaps you were slackin' on the job! Happy racist Virginians day to you. :hi:

Maybe they'll change it to Doug Wilder - Barak Obama day sometime soon.

2. DOUG!
Doug is the fight of his life around here right now. Probably won't matter as he will still get elected but there has been some crazy stuff going on (google Richmond School Board move :eyes: )

4. Yep that is the only reason Arizona passed a King holiday
On January 17, 2000, for the first time, Martin Luther King Day was officially observed in all 50 states.<4> Prior to that New Hampshire and Arizona did not observe the day. Throughout the 1990s this was heavily criticized. After a 1992 proposition to recognize the holiday in Arizona did not pass, the NFL boycotted hosting Super Bowl XXVII at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.<5>
