Need help - how do I find the laws on crossing the border sans "documentation"?
re my post yesterday ( http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=2714245&mesg_id=2714245 ) I "know" crossing is only a simple misdemeanor, but I don't know why I "know" that - how do I find the statute or at least a credible quote for a source in a discussion?

1. I don't know
but thank you for giving the man food and water. In my county, that would be against the law.

I always opt for kindness whether legal or no.

Begining Jan 31,08, anyone 19 years or older who enters the US at land and sea ports will need to present a gov't issued photo such as a drivers license as proof of identity along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, or naturalization certificate or a passport.

Children age 18 or under will be able to enter with proof of ciizenship. Verbal claims of citizenship, alone, will not be sufficint to establish identity and citizenship to enter the US.

4. whew thanks
looked around for at least an hour, found some almost-there links but ugh nothing really clearcut like "the penalty for crossing us mexican border shal be: first offense, blah blah blah"

I am pretty sure I actually read the misdemeanor thing here at DU so let this reply serve as a kick. Maybe someone can remember or think of some search terms I am not "seeing" to try.
